Tax Sale Brings in Millions for Unified Government
The Unified Government conducted Tax Sale #331 in the Commission Chambers on Thursday, May 15, 2014. The cumulative totals generated roughly $2.4 million dollars in delinquent revenues. Over $1.8 million dollars were collected beforehand through property redemptions, previous payment plans and nearly $600,000 was actually collected from the live auction.
"With the success of our recent sale, the Unified Government's Delinquent Real Estate Division has continued to advance the Mayor's, Commission and County Administrator's strategic directive for aggressively collecting delinquent revenues," says Breit Deichler, Director of Delinquent Revenue Collections. "More than $8.6 million dollars in delinquent revenues has been collected through the last 3 tax sales, which has allowed the overall delinquency ratio in Wyandotte County to significantly decrease."

Kansas City Regional Bikeway Plan
MARC is working with area partners to develop a Regional Bikeway Plan that will establish a vision for high-priority bikeway and trail investments across the metropolitan area. The plan will be completed by December 2014.
Scope of work
The scope of the Kansas City Regional Bikeway Plan covers four key areas:
- Evaluating existing bikeway and trail plans, programs and policies.
- Analyzing the bikeway network.
- Identifying regional bikeway and trail network priorities.
- Developing supportive tools and resources.
Some of the steering committee's initial goals for the plan are to:
- Expand the MetroGreen system where appropriate.
- Develop a new Regional Bikeway Network map that includes not only current bikeway systems but also greenways and planned expansions of the system.
- Develop a process for identifying high-priority regional bikeway and trail investments.
This planning effort will be coordinated with the current update of Transportation Outlook 2040 -the metropolitan area's long-range transportation plan - to help clarify regional priority investments and implementation strategies.
Upcoming public meetings
The team will host four public meetings to seek additional input into the plan.
