Board2A MESSAGE FROM THE INTERIM DIRECTOR                                      NOVEMBER 2015
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

It's hard to believe it's already been a month since I sent out our last newsletter! I'm having an even more difficult time wrapping my head around the fact that Thanksgiving is tomorow. Yikes, time flies!

Over the past month or so, I've been slowly purchasing ingredients for my Thanksgiving dinner. When going to purchase raw milk at Paskamansett Farm, I noticed they also had fresh cranberries for sale. I had to get them; what's Thanksgiving without cranberry sauce? Maybe you're used to the gelatinous stuff in a can...but you can't beat the taste of fresh sauce and it is super easy to make. Check out the blog I wrote last year on homemade sauce.

I'm also planning on making some cheesey mashed potatoes. This year my potatoes, as well as my broccoli, came from Langwater Farm, a certified organic operation in Easton. Another favorite on the menu is butternut squash with a crumb topping. This recipe might take all of the health out of squash. It's great for picky eaters or could also be served as a dessert. I'll also be serving fresh beets from Skinny Dip Farm.

For desserts I picked up a sugar pumpkin from Cervelli Farm. I've been getting pumpkins from that farm since I was a little...usually for carving jack-o-lanterns, but I'm hoping that this will make a killer pumpkin pie. I'm also thinking about making Indian pudding. This is something I've never eaten before, but I picked up some fresh cornmeal from the Plimoth Grist Mill and I want to try something different.

Also different...I'll be using "That's a Spicy Pear" BBQ sauce from No Joke Smoke as a glaze on my turkey.

Where are your Thanksgiving Dinner ingredients coming from? I hope you'll be supporting your local farms. If you still have ingredients to pick up, make sure to check out the online farm guide to find fresh and local veggies!

Happy Thanksgiving,
Kendra
