Roughly 90% of the farms in Massachusetts are family owned businesses. Many of those farms are multi-generational as well, and that gives you a sense of how important farms and farmers are to our communities: they employ local people, are good stewards of the environment and provide an important product for their fellow citizens. I've recently been reminded of just how important it is to maintain that community. Sure, everyone has their own business or interest but, in the interests of sustaining local agriculture, we have to come out of our silos and band together. Click here to continue reading... 

SEMAP historically hosts a farm table dinner, however this year we're excited to offer a twist on the traditional farm to table dinner, Farm to Tapas. We will have several local restaurants (sourcing local ingredients, of course) set up different tapas stations and guests will be able to choose what they would like to sample. Tickets are limited and must be purchased in advance; register now!

Members joining SEMAP between now and June 5th will automatically be eligible for listing in our 2015 Local Food Guide. The guide contains SEMAP member farms and local food businesses, as well as a list of farmers markets & CSAs in our region.
