SEMAP Buy Local Update #2
Hey Everyone!

Warm Up With Local!

Brrr!  This winter has been a record breaker from the start, especially when it comes to local food!  Several winter markets have popped up like a groundhog all across the state, further helping us to eat locally, year-round.  With all this fantastic demand for local, an larger number of farms are implementing season extension techniques like hoop houses and covered row crops, to increase their production well beyond the traditional outdoor growing season.  There are numerous websites and books to learn more about these and other energy-efficient growing techniques - here are a few to start: ATTRA, Eliot Coleman, edible South Shore, as well as local gardening groups (see events below).

And don't forget...Valentine's Day is just around the corner!  Below are GREAT local food gift ideas for those bitten by the 'local-love bug', including romantic bistro dinners, specialty sweets for Mom, or fun first-date food events!

Special thanks to our 2009 Corporate Sponsors!
