The weather this weekend will be fantastic, and will be sure to bring out the weekend warrior / locavore in all of us!  Perhaps your finishing or starting a home project you've been daydreaming about, cooking an amazing meal for family and friends, or just kicking back and enjoying the warm breeze.  Anyway you decide to spend your weekend, be sure to think Local!  Local growers and food producers are eager to meet you this season, and share their many products and knowledge of local food and agriculture.  And what better way to start then now...

Members of a CSA Farm Share Program purchase their food "share" from the farmer in winter or spring, and receive a supply of freshly picked vegetables and fruits every week from June to October.  Our CSA is also helping us at Lucky Field Organics achieve our main mission as a farm: to provide food for local people, grown by local people.

Members of our New Bedford CSA receive a boxed CSA share, full of the seasons freshest "Certified Organic" produce each week.  Your pickup site is the Brooklawn Park Farmer's Market at Ashley Blvd & Brooklawn St.  The Market happens on Mondays from 2:00 PM to 7:00 P.M. and is attended by various other local vendors to shop from.

June 8 to October 19

Space is limited, so shares will be sold on a first come first serve basis. 2009 shares are nearly sold out. The CSA will last approximately 20 weeks, starting in early June. The Farmer's Garden CSA offers 18 weeks of farm fresh produce!  You can count on an interesting selection of familiar and usual vegetables and herbs.  On occasion we will also offer Flower, Eggs, Honey, Jams, Pickled items, Baked Goods, and other treats from our Local Community.  Our produce is Freshly picked within 24 hours of your Pick-up.

Starting Date: week of June 19, 2009
Pick up days: Thursday's  2:30 PM - 5:30 PM  OR
Saturday's 12:00 PM - 2:30 PM
Half Bushel Share Membership: (feeds 2 people) @ $350.00

Coonamessett Farm is a twenty-acre farm complete with farmstand and pick-your-own offered to members only. Visit their website or the farm for more information on applying for membership.

For the 2009 season you can select one of the following CSA programs:

- 18 week ($400), and the 18-week program may also have an additional week added if weather holds; it is a real deal at less than $22 per week.

- 12 week ($300) and 8 week ($250) options available as well.

If you are interested, please fill out the CSA application.  The CSA will be limited in membership and closed when filled.  Payment: Half is due when the application is submitted.  The remaining half is due by the starting week of the program.

Our share provides a variety of fresh vegetables grown on the farm, when in season, each week for a family of 2-4. We have a limited number of shares available.

The harvest period begins June 1st and continues until October 3rd.
Pick up days are Wednesdays from 1pm - 7pm and Thursdays from 4pm - 7pm.

On occasion, cut flowers and fresh herbs may be included in your weekly pickup.

The 8 wineries of the Coastal Wine Trail will all be present promoting the beginning of this year's Passport Season. The area's farmers, finest food providers, cheese makers, bakers, and more will be on hand to sample what they do best as we take in the beautiful setting at the vineyard and the sounds of live music. This is a rain or shine, 21+ event, under the tent and we encourage all to dress comfortably and weather appropriate. Space is very limited and this wine & food event will sell out! Local farmers, caterers, and producers will be offering small samples to taste, as well as an array of locally grown and produced wines and beer. WRWA RIVER RUN RACE 2009 - Westport, MA

Saturday, June 13, 2009 (rain or shine)

Join WRWA and Osprey Sea Kayak Adventures for the 6th annual River Run on the Westport River. The day will start off with paddlers racing on either a 3.5 mile Family Fun Course or the 8.5 mile Challenge Course. It will be followed with a celebration at the Head of Westport with food, children's games, and awards for the paddlers. Westport Rivers Vineyard & Winery will host this local wine & food festival under one tent on our lawn at our winery in Westport, MA. Local food, wine and beer will be the focus as we sample what wonderful flavors Westport has to offer. Westport's finest food providers, farmers, cheese makers, bakers, and more will be on hand to sample what they do best as we enjoy the sights at the vineyard and the sounds of live music.  This is a rain or shine, 21+ event, under the tent and we encourage all to dress farm casual and weather appropriate. Space is very limited and this small intimate wine & food festival will sell out! Local restaurants, caterers, and producers will be offering small samples to taste, as well as an array of locally grown and produced wines and beer. Some vendors and participants will also have items for sale if you're interested in bringing something back home with you.  Tickets are $45 per person.
