What's Growin'?
Peak harvest time is approaching, and that means you can pick up just about anything/everything you need at your local farmstand and farmers market. Herbs are still growing strong, which will combine perfectly with Tomatoes, Squash, Green Beans and Peppers. There are many different varieties of each, so be sure to try them all!
The farms and businesses listed below are members of SEMAP's Buy Fresh, Buy Local Campaign and Business-to-Business Network. For complete information on these local producers and MANY MORE check out our Online Farm Guide: www.semaponline.org

Cookin' Local!
![CA tomatoes](http://img.constantcontact.com/letters/images/deleted_image.gif)
Tomato BreadSoo Easy, yet Soooo Tasty! On a quick visit to Spain (3-day blitzkrieg!) we ate this dish every morning. The fresh, simple flavor of tomatoes and olive oil was a great way to wake up from those crazy Spanish nights and recharge for another round. A recipe in Kerry D. Romanielly's local cookbook, Out of the Earth: A Heritage Farm Coastal Cookbook, explains its amazing simplicity and fantastic taste. There are no speeding Vespas, or horrible 80's music, just great local flavor! Ingredients: 1 fresh crusty French or Italian baguette, split lengthwise 2 juicy, very ripe tomatoes, split in half across the center Olive oil & salt Method: Preheat the oven to 475 degrees, or prepare the grill. Set out the two sides of the bread cut-side up. Hold the tomatoes, one at a time over the bread and squeeze gently, then rub the tomato into the bread (kids love to do this part!) until both tomatoes are used. Drizzle well with olive oil and sprinkle lightly with salt. Place on a cookie sheet and toast in the oven until golden, or place cut-side down over medium coals to toast and color, being careful not to burn. Serve immediately. Makes 4-6 servings. And Speaking of Tomatoes...check out this NEW local sauce!
