King of Prussia District Awards

Police Chief Tom Nolan was presented with the KOP District's first ever Special Achievement Award for his efforts to maintain a safe environment in Upper Merion Township. Chief Nolan accepted the award on behalf of the entire department. The award was presented by Eric Goldstein, KOP District Executive Director (left), and Bob Hart, KOP Mall Manager (right).

 
Upper Merion Township was presented with the KOP District's Planning Award for installing Adaptive Traffic Signal Technology on King of Prussia's major roadways, which helped to dramatically reduce traffic congestion. The award was presented by Eric Goldstein, KOP District Executive Director (left), and Bob Hart, KOP Mall Manager (second from right), and was accepted by David G. Kraynik, UM Township Manager (second from left). Charles Devitis, Traffic Division Supervisor (center), and William Jenaway, UM Board of Supervisors Chairperson (right) also participated.

All proceeds will be used for projects that supplement basic educational programs in the Upper Merion Area School District. Runners and walkers of all ages are welcome to participate.

9th Annual King of Prussia 10 Miler
On Sunday, May 22, the race begins at Heuser Park on Beidler Road at 8:00 AM, followed by a 5K run/walk, and a free Kids Fun Run at 8:15 AM.

Road Closure
Route 252 (Valley Forge Road) will be closed as of Friday, April 1, 2016, between the Knox Covered Bridge and Route 23, due to the current Wilson Road Force Main Emergency Rehabilitation construction project. The project is currently planned through the end of July 2016.

PennDOT reminds motorists that they can report potholes and other roadway concerns about state roads by calling 1-800-FIX-ROAD or visiting www.penndot.gov and clicking on "Submit Roadway Feedback."

19th Annual Flea Market Donations
The Flea Room started accepting clean, resalable items on Monday, March 21. The room will be open from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM Monday thru Thursday. Acceptable donations include children's books and toys, jewelry, knickknacks, decorative items, new clothing, and electric and electronic items in working order. Donation acceptance ends April 21.

The department began conducting aggressive driving enforcement activities as part of a statewide Wave on March 28, 2016 and will continue through May 1, 2016.

Local historian, Michael E. Tolle, will discuss his new book, They've Been Down So Long...Getting Up's Still On Their Minds. Come to hear about the past, present, and future of eight classic American mill towns on PA's lower Schuylkill River. Tolle describes his approach as "urban history in support of urban activism."
