Scouting For Food
Local Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts are holding their annual "Scouting for Food Drive," which is also part of the National Good Turn Service Project. On Saturday, November 14, Boy Scouts from troops 481 and 551 will be putting food collection bags by the front doors of houses. On Saturday, November 21, Cub Scouts from packs 481 and 551 will collect the generous donation of food from the good people of our community.

On The Move
Over the last six years, Upper Merion Township (UMT) has installed Adaptive Traffic Signal technology at 30 traffic signals along DeKalb Pike, Gulph Road, and Mall Boulevard, significantly reducing traffic congestion and travel times during peak travel times.
Train Derailment
Norfolk Southern experienced a "minor" incident at 4:30 AM Friday, November 13, involving 5 tank cars that derailed at the eastern end of Abrams Yard (north end of North Henderson Road), at the bend in Upper Merion Township.
Help Beautify UM
The Shade Tree Commission is seeking volunteers to help plant trees on Saturday, November 14, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. If you are interested, please contact Barley Van Clief of the Upper Merion Shade Tree Commission at bvanclief@pennhort.org or 610-828-2340.
BCA Got Back!
The Board of Community Assistance (BCA) Grant Program was established by the Board of Supervisors and Valley Forge Casino Resort to provide grants to organizations that serve Upper Merion residents and to award scholarships for high school seniors from Upper Merion Township who are continuing their education. Applications will be accepted beginning Monday, November 16.
The Valley Forge Chorale is celebrating its 6th Anniversary Season! The Christmas Joy concerts will feature many holiday favorites performed by talented singers, a full orchestra, and local soloists from the area. Visit ValleyForgeChorale.org for details.
Citizen Academy Attendees
Thank you for registering and participating! The first session of the Upper Merion Township Citizens Academy was held on Tuesday, November 10 at the Township Building. Next up will be Police Chief Tom Nolan who will present on November 17, at 7:00 PM. Expect to learn a lot about the UMPD.

Countdown Begins
We're down to the last two weeks of the regular season. Saturday, November 14 is the last chance of the year for a taco fix from Mucho Bueno. While shopping, grab a cup of coffee, listen to live music, and chat with your friends.
Winter Market Season
Vendors will still visit during the winter market season beginning December 5. A few of our farmers and other vendors will set up in the lower parking lot, every other Saturday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The email newsletter will have information on pre-ordering from each vendor.

Rooster Swap
The 7-foot rooster at Nor-view Farms on 670 N. Henderson Road is being replaced on Monday, November 16, after more than 50 years of"perching. Fiberglass was cracked, its feet were badly damaged and it was falling off its perch. A brand, new identical rooster, made of cast aluminum, will soon be perching. Feel free to take pictures; construction begins at 8:00 AM. Visit the townships FB page to see the rooster.

UMPR offers a variety of Youth Basketball Leagues ranging from Grade 1 through Grade 12. To find out more, view the Fall 2016 Activity Guide. Registration deadline for Youth Basketball is November 23.
Disney On Ice
Discounted tickets to see Disney on Ice: 100 Years of Magic at the Wells Fargo Center on Monday, December 28 are available in the Park and Rec office. Stop by to purchase yours ticket.
Holiday Lights Contest
Enjoy decorating your home for the holidays? Register through Parks and Rec by Wednesday, December 2 to enter our 5th annual Holiday Lights Contest. Winners will be announced at the Holiday Hoopla on Friday, December 4.

The King of Prussia Fire Company is having a Holiday/Craft Vendor Fair on November 21, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. All proceeds benefit the firehouse.
Breakfast With Santa
The Swedesburg Fire Company is holding its "Breakfast with Santa" on Sunday, December 13, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Swedesburg Social Hall.
Fall Safety Tip
Be careful driving at this time of the year. If the temperature drops below freezing, the wet leaves will freeze and become dangerous icy ones. Remember leaves often cover the painted road markings, making it difficult to know the locations of the lanes, potholes, and other bumps in the road.

Lane Closures - 422
On Monday, November 16, through Friday, November 20, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane closures are scheduled on U.S. 422 East and West. The eastbound lane will be closed between the Oaks and Route 363 (Trooper Road) interchanges, and the westbound restriction will be closed from the bridge over the Schuylkill River to the Route 363 (Trooper Road) Interchange.

On Monday, November 16, through Friday, November 20, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane closures will be in place on Route 363 (Trooper Road) between U.S. 422 and Audubon Road, and on Audubon Road approaching the intersection with Route 363 (Trooper Road).
