Trick, Treat, Trails
Bring the kids out to McKaig trails to pick up some candy on Saturday, October 31 between 9:00 AM and 11:30 AM.   Please meet in the Roberts Elementary School parking lot.  

Maintenance Morning
Your help is needed to make the McKaig trails better. Please come out between 9:00 AM and 11:30 AM to help to install a memorial area.  Everyone will meet in the Roberts Elementary School parking lot at 9:00 AM.  RSVP at info@enjoymckaig.org.
  
Happy Trail 
You are cordially invited to attend the township's ribbon cutting ceremony for the Schuylkill River West Trail on November 5, 2015 at 4:00 PM in Heuser Park. (600 Beidler Road)

KOP Mall-O-Ween
On Saturday, October 31 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, kids are invited to wear their Halloween costumes and visit shops throughout the King of Prussia mall to collect goodies. Trick-or-treaters should meet at the lower level of the Plaza outside JCPenney at 10:00 AM.
  
In Memory Of
The township mourns the loss of Bill Keil and Mike Santillo. Mr. Keil was the long-time Chief Building Official for Upper Merion. Mr. Santillo was Chairman of the Transportation Authority for more than 30 years; he also served in the military. The township flag will remain at half-mast until all services are held.

Show Park Love  
The Upper Merion Tree Tenders and Shade Tree Commission will plant 30 trees on Saturday, November 14 starting at 9:00 AM.  Volunteers will meet at the corner of Henderson and Ross Roads to plant at Bob Holland Park, Coates Lane and Evergreen Lane.  Please bring shovels and work gloves. Volunteering? Contact Barley Van Clief at bvanclief@pennhort.org or 610-828-2340.

Boo-ti-ful Halloween Line-Up
Trick or Treat throughout the market on Saturday, October 31 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. You can expect: a costume contest,  pumpkin decorating, a scavenger hunt for a Jack O'Lantern, artisans, Copper Lantern Pictures, music,  Lafayette Ambulance with  Halloween safety giveaways, Neil's Sharpening Service (last chance to sharpen all dull blades).
 
Congratuations!
Ted, the lovable mutt of the Assistant Township Manager, Sally Slook, won first place in the Upper Merion Farmers Market dog costume contest on Saturday, October 24! Lil' Bit  won first place in the dog musical chairs competition! He is the adorable dog of Township Planner Rob Loeper.

Sensory Friendly Story Time 
On Saturday, November 14 at 2:00 PM children, ages 2 to 8 with learning differences or disabilities, are invited to join us for a great family story time tailored to their needs.  Register here. 
PARKS AND RECREATION
Senior Bowling/Luncheon
Township senior residents are invited to a luncheon on November 10 at 12 noon, followed by two games of bowling at Facenda Whitaker Lanes. Best part; it's FREE! Must pre-register by November 7. 

Soccer/UK Petite 
Your child can play soccer in a safe environment. The program concentrates on motor skill & coordination development, as well as social skill building with other children. UMPR is offering two programs for children ages 3-5 years at Gulph Gym. Check out our Fall 2015 activity guide for more information.
 
Silver Sneakers Bound!
Upper Merion Township needs your nomination to help bring Silver Sneakers to the new Upper Merion Community Center!  If you are Silver Sneakers eligible you can call 1-866-584-7389 (Silver Sneakers Customer Service) to nominate the UMCC for Silver Sneakers. More information can be found on the P & R Facebook page

Detours Ahead
Aqua Pennsylvania will replace the existing 6-inch cast iron water main on the following streets in Upper Merion the week of November 9. Click here.
 
SAFETY AND CODES
Daylight Saving Time
Bill Daywalt, Deputy Fire Marshal, asks that you start a new family tradition during Daylight Saving Time. He says, "on Sunday put into practice a plan to always test your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors." 
 
Fall Back
Daylight Saving Time goes into affect Sunday, November 1.  Remember to turn your clock back one hour before going to bed Saturday night.

ON THE MOVE
Lane Restrictions
On Monday, November 2, through Friday, November 6, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane closures are scheduled on U.S. 422 East and West. The eastbound lane closure will occur between the Oaks and Route 363 (Trooper Road) interchanges, and the westbound restriction will be from the bridge over the Schuylkill River to the Route 363 (Trooper Road) Interchange.
