E-HISTORY FACT
Road Delay
The PA Turnpike's Philadelphia Extension lengthened the original 1940 section east from Harrisburg (Carlise) to King of Prussia. The 2nd phase of that expansion, east to King of Prussia at what is now the present-day interchange with I-76 & US 202, didn't open until November 20, 1950. Weather delays and a cement workers' strike caused it to miss the October 1, 10th anniversary of the original section.
