The Public Information Office is looking to fill a part-time Social Media Assistant position. The deadline to submit resumes has been extended to Monday, August 31 at 6:00 PM. No phone calls please.
Dear Subscriber....Thank you for reading the township e-newsletter week after week! We're aiming to boost our subscribers list this fall. So, please encourage your friends, neighbors or non-profit organizations to subscribe so we can double our subscription rate by the end of fall. I will post our growing list of subscribers regularly on social media. Since I oversee UMGA-TV studio as well, Don Herbert, Television Coordinator, the staff and I are looking forward to your input about what types of programs you want to see on our channel (Comcast: 22, Verizon 33). Please offer some suggestions at umtinfo@umtownship.org. We so appreciate the feedback we currently receive as we work to disseminate more information to you! Please note: The e-newsletter will be on a "summer hiatus" Friday, August 28 and Friday Sept. 4. Special thanks to my co-worker Karl Helicher, Library Director, for always editing my content. He always makes it fun! Hope everyone has an easy, breezy, August! Sincerely, Carla Showell-Lee Chief Information Officer

E-HISTORY FACT |
KOP Inn History - Part 1
In the early 1950's, the PA Highway Dept planned to widen US 202 in preparation of the convergence of the PA Turnpike & Schuylkill Expressway. Widespread protests broke out as concerned citizens feared the King of Prussia Inn would be torn down. In 1952, the PA Highway Dept offered $139,000 to purchase the Inn. A decision was made to spare it and route US 202 at the Gulph Rd intersection around the historic property, making safe access impossible. On June 28, 1952, the Inn closed as the owner was unable to sustain the business.
