 BCA Awards Night - Big News! 
    
More than $145,000 was granted to 68 recipients: 38 community organizations and 30 scholarships at the Board of Community Assistance 
Awards Reception Tuesday, June 23 in the Venue of the 
Radisson Hotel at the Valley Forge Casino Resort.

Pop, Crackle, Boom, Weekend(s)! 
 "Concerts Under The Stars" series, which kicks off on Sunday, June 28 features country night with Girls, Guns & Glory with special guests The Wallace Brothers & Stephanie Grace.  
On Saturday, July 4, Heuser Park is the place to be! The fun begins at 3:00 PM with carnival games, rides, concessions and more. The fireworks display begins after sunset.

 

Employee Idea - Blooms!    

 

Maudy Hedlund, Public Works Secretary, who wanted to improve the look and feel of the township building by planted flowers. It's amazing how a great idea, shared with others, blossoms! You rock Maudy!

Celebrate our nation's independence on Saturday, July 4 at the Valley Forge National Historical Park from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Bring the entire family to see artillery demonstrations, play historical games, and feast on an All-American cook-out with music and more!  View all the July happenings.       

 
 
Thunderstorm Aftermath

The Public Works Department will be accepting storm debris until Friday, July 31. The debris must meet the Yard Waste Collection Guidelines on the township's website.

Communication Is Key  

Upper Merion Township is installing a LED Message Board; it will be located at the intersection of Henderson Road and West Valley Forge Road this summer, enabling the township staff to display timely information. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.

Blood Drive Results 

The American Cross Blood drive was a huge success on Monday, June 8; thanks for donating! Here are the results:

41 scheduled, 25 signed in, 25 blood donations collected!


Yoga Happy Hour 

Join the King of Prussia District every Tuesday in July for a FREE multi week yoga course (Fun for everyone of any level).  Yoga instruction by KOP-based Stillpoint Yoga Studios from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM.  Then enjoy a FREE,  healthy happy hour, courtesy of Wegmans-KOP from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM.

Holiday Closing

Upper Merion Township Library will be closed Friday, July 3 through Sunday, July 5. It reopens Monday, July 6 at 9:00 AM. 
 

Summer Reading

Monday Night Fun & More 

On June 29 at 7:00 PM, all 5th - 8th graders, can  join us for some Middle School Monday Night fun; a book discussion  about Peak or I Am Malala will be held in the Little Theater from 7:00 PM - 7:30 PM; Library Jeopardy from 7:30 PM - 8:00 PM; Junior Friends Meeting from 8:00 PM - 8:30 PM.  No registration required.

PUBLIC WORKS

Line Paintings 

The Township's line painters have begun maintaining paint markings at traffic signals. The items that will be painted: Stop Bars, Pedestrian Crosswalks, Lane Lines and Directional Arrows. Paintings are scheduled to continue throughout the week of June 29, on Dekalb Pike from Gulph Road to Dekalb Street.

SENIOR CENTER

Senior Fall Fling 

The following non-profit organizations will be represented at the 14th Annual Senior Fall Fling on Thursday, September 24 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the Pavilion at the Court in King of Prussia: Neighborhood Meals on Wheels, Feel The Warmth, Upper Merion Emergency Aid, and The Women's Club of Upper Merion. The theme: A Community of Service. 

 

Meet & Donate

Residents attending the Senior Fall Fling will meet the women and men behind these service organizations on Thursday, September 24 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Sign-up sheets and donation boxes will be available. Each group will be featured in the weeks ahead.

Look at all the activities offered by the UMSSC that are available to anyone who is 55 or older

E-HISTORY FACT
Church Dedication

Old Swedes Church (Christ Church) was dedicated June 24, 1760 in Swedesburg, replacing a simple log cabin dating to 1735. The Swedish settlers built the church on land purchased from the estate of Gunnar Rambo for eleven pounds sterling. The stained glass windows tell the story of the history of the Swedish colony of New Sweden.
