Words Matter

From time to time police officers hear parents telling their children that if they don't behave the police are going to arrest them.  We all know how difficult parenting is, research has shown that statements like these make children afraid of the police. As part of a new program, the Upper Merion Township Police Department will now give parents a small card as a gentle reminder to explain that the police want the children to come to them if they need help, and to not run from them in fear. The card encourages the parent to stop and introduce the child to the officer.

On the Lookout!

Are you riding your bike with a helmet? The Upper Merion Police Department is looking for you.  Petrucci's at Nor View Farm is partnering with the Upper Merion Police Department to encourage children to ride their bikes with a helmet. If an officer spots a child with a helmet they may pull him or her over and issue them a Petrucci's coupon for a FREE small water ice that is valid for the 2015 season.
