E-HISTORY FACT |
Two Upper Merions
In 1922 and 1923, some residents and manufacturers wanted to divide the township into two separate townships using the voting districts as a guide. There were two districts-Upper and Lower. The Upper District consisted of King of Prussia, Port Kennedy, Abrams, and Red Hill. The Lower District contained the more populated areas of Gulph Mills, Swedeland, Swedesburg, Rebel Hill, and the outlying farm areas that would eventually become Hughes Park and King Manor. At the time, the Lower District had more industrial and residential areas and wanted the benefits of first class township status.

Pothole Repair Underway
PennDOT will take advantage of the seasonable temperatures on Saturday (April 11) to repair potholes on state highways in the five-county Philadelphia region.
Potholes Develop....
...when water penetrates into a roadway through pavement cracks and then freezes and expands, knocking loose small pieces of pavement. As cars and trucks ride over the area, cracks enlarge so more water enters and the cycle repeats until the pavement crumbles.
Balligomingo Road Closed
West Conshohocken Borough will close Balligomingo Road through April 17, between Portland Road and Route 23 (Schuylkill River Road), for slope stabilization. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.
