Change is in the air. What a difference an extra hour of evening light and a few warm days can make! Next week brings St. Patrick's Day (Tuesday, March 17) and the first day of spring (Friday, March 20).

The Community Assistance Grant/Scholarship application deadline: Sunday, March 15. Recipients will be announced at the Board of Supervisors public meeting on May 28. Did you apply? You can do it now.

Open Fore Reading - It's A Fundraiser!

The Library is holding its inaugural Open "Fore" Reading Mini-Golf Tournament Fundraiser on Saturday, March 28 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Mark your calendar. Opening Day for the Farmers Markets spring season is Saturday, May 16 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. It will include a chicken barbeque with the Swedesburg Volunteer Fire Company. E-HISTORY FACT |
Anna M. Holstein
Ms. Holstein, (Upper Merion's unsung hero) served as an army nurse during the Civil War and wrote about her experiences in her book, Three Years in Field Hospitals of the Army of the Potomac. Anna was also a successful fundraiser and her efforts helped purchase Washington's Headquarters as a memorial. The Holstein home still stands just south of DeKalb Pike on Henderson Road. Anna's grave is located in the cemetery of Christ Church, Old Swedes.

Green Light Go
The township was awarded the "Green Light Go" grant from PennDOT for $52,420. This grant will allow the township to replace existing Light Emitting Diode ( LED) fixtures for signal indications at 30 signalized intersections. More information here.

Mall Traffic Delays
Due to the construction of the plaza connector site, there will be lane changes starting Sunday March 15, at the intersection of Mall Boulevard and Wills Boulevard. In addition, Mall Boulevard will be closed between Wills and Court Boulevard while the steel support structure is erected over Mall Boulevard. Hours: Between 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM for approximately one week. The target date for the completion of this portion of the construction that spans Mall Boulevard is April 10.
