Workplace Safety
Here are some suggestions a manager should  consider for a successful business safety meeting, which will encourage employees to take responsibility for workplace conduct and safety.

Step 1
Circulate the agenda at least two weeks before the meeting so that the attendees can come prepared with questions.

Step 2
Ensure that the materials for the meeting are in place and that the meeting starts on time.  Timeliness is an important factor when it comes to safety, so be sure to commend employees for being on time.

Step 3
Outline the safety topics to be covered at the beginning of the meeting and include any visual presentation material. Visuals could enhance comprehension of information.

Step 4
Use the equipment being discussed in a hands-on demonstration of the safety techniques. Allow each attendee to use the equipment and become familiar with the techniques being taught. If the safety topic is about a large piece of equipment, then have the meeting onsite so that attendees can see the equipment being discussed.

Step 5
Introduce each attendee to the company's official safety policy at the end of the meeting, along with any state or federal guidelines that need to be included. Allow for questions at the end of the presentation.

Sean McComb, Upper Merion High School 2001 graduate, is named the 2014 National Teacher of the Year! The Township Board of Supervisors will recognize McComb with a key to the Township on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 7:30 PM in Freedom Hall at the Upper Merion Township Building. The ornamental key, which symbolizes the freedom of the recipient to enter and leave the township at will, was bestowed to only three other recipients: Art Powell, King of Prussia Mall developer; Michael Caldwell, former Superintendent of the Valley Forge National Historical Park; and Ron Wagenmann, former Upper Merion Township Manager. President Obama recognized McComb at a White House ceremony last year.
