The nation paused on Thursday, September 11, in memory of those who lost their lives thirteen years ago in the September 11 2001 attacks.

The first collapse occurred at 0959 hours on that fateful day and we lost:

         343 members of the Fire Department of New York

           23 members of the New York Police Department

           37 members of the Port Authority Police Department

            8 members of private ambulance firms

SENIOR CENTER

The Only Place To Be....

On Thursday, September 18, more than 250 seniors will gather on the 1st level of The Pavilion in the King of Prussia Mall for the 13th Annual Senior Fall Fling. It's FREE for senior residents of the UMASD,  but you must register to attend.  Please call the senior center at 610-265-4715.

Get Set...Go!!!

The 3rd Annual King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company 9/11 Memorial 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk  will be on Sunday, September 14. Where: The fire house on 170 Allendale Road.

Time: 9:00 AM. Registration opens at 7:30 AM. Awards and a brief ceremony will follow the run. Proceeds maintain the 9/11 Memorial, located at the fire house, and the Zachary Wallace Fund. 

 

Upcoming Fundraisers  

Supporters of the Daniel T. Kellett Skate Park will be holding two fundraising events.  Your support of the spaghetti dinner and the clothing drive fundraisers is greatly appreciated.

International Day - 9/13

The Market will have several events to celebrate this special day. Come see three separate dance groups representing Irish, Chinese, and Indian Bollywood heritages. Learn how to wrap a traditional Indian sari; LaVera Seymour will have a display of African culture. Stop by and sample foods from many nations.

ON THE MOVE

Pavement Patching

Nighttime travel restrictions are scheduled next week on U.S. Route 202 and U.S. Route 422 for pavement patching. Crews will work Sunday through Friday (Sept. 14-19) from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM.

Pre-Schooler Rocks It

Lots of programs are starting the week of September 14, for 2-5 year olds; Playball, Dance, UK Petite!

 

Tip Top Shape 

Here are a few exercise programs starting September 14 for adults only: pilates, BLAST Fitness, yoga and more!


 

After School Programs

Starting during the week of September 22, with the exception of  Hands on Science, which starts at Caley Elementary School during the week of September 14. Sign up your future scientist right here.

Tech Night

Need help with your digital device or eBooks? Get it from our youth volunteers on Monday, September 22 at 7:00 PM at the library. Registration required. 

 

Fall Story Time

During the week of September 15, make sure to register your child for the FREE Fall Six -week story time session.  There are many options to chose from for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and families.  You can call, register on-line,  or stop in the library.

 

Dance Til You Drop 

Your kids will have a blast at this special library dance party on September 16, in the Henderson Room.  It will be held at 10:30AM for toddlers (ages 2 - 3 �) and 2:00 PM for preschoolers (ages 3 � - 5). Register on-line

 

Enchanted Library

Calling all 5th - 8th graders interested in acting and backstage crew work. Come out on September 17, from 7:00 until 8:00 PM to the Little Theatre to learn more about this year's Enchanted Library: "The Mystery of the Lost Treasure!"   We need lots of help to make it happen.  No registration.

 

All About Jazz

Jazz Night will be held in Freedom Hall on October 10 at 7:00 PM. Stephen Wise and The Edge band will perform.  This popular annual event is sponsored by the Upper Merion Township Library Friends of Black History.
