On Thursday, July 10, the Board of Community Assistance (BCA) held its second annual awards reception. More than $150,000  was given to 59 recipients (26 organizations, 5 sports organizations, and 28 scholarships








Upper Merion Police Promotions
Officer Andy Fidler was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and Officer Drew Miller was promoted to the rank of Corporal, during the Board of Supervisors meeting, Thursday, July 10. Congratulations!

The PIO was tucked in the township's administrative department for years.  Our new home will be the vacated tax office, across from the police department on the first floor. Pruning Workshops

Tree pruning is a fun activity if you learn how to do it correctly. Join us this summer and fall for pruning workshops sponsored by the Upper Merion Shade Tree Commission and the Upper Merion Tree Tenders.  Schedule listed here.
 
Learn To Row
The Upper Merion Crew Team is looking for students in the 8th grade and up who wish to learn to row.  Dates and time: July 28-August 22, 8:00 AM to Noon. The cost is  $300 for a 4-week session.  Interested?  Contact the Upper Merion Crew Team: learntorowUM@gmail.com.
 
Save A Life
A Red Cross Blood Drive will be held in Freedom Hall of the Upper Merion Township Building on Monday July 21, from 2:00 -7:00 PM.

Free Passes

Upper Merion Township Residents may enjoy a free pass to Elmwood Park Zoo, Morris Arboretum, Penn Museum, and Academy of Natural Science. All you need is a valid library card. Please check our website for more information.

 

"My Kid, Has No Clue"

Learn how to find the school of your choice in this FREE college planning workshop. Parents and high school students are invited to join us on Wednesday, July 30 at 7:00 PM in the Henderson Room. Registration required.

 

"CSI Egypt - Rewind"

This is worth posting again.  Use forensic science to solve a 3,000 year old murder on Wednesday, July 23, at 7:00 PM in Freedom Hall.  This event is geared to kids ages 5 and up. 

 

Catapult Science

Learn how to make your very own catapult and have fun testing it on Friday, July 25, from 2:00 - 3:00 PM in the Little Theatre.  Open to students in grades 2 - 4.  Please  register on-line through our  events calendar at www.umtownship.org/library or by stopping in the library.

 "B" Street Closure

Tru-Line Contractors will be installing a sanitary sewer force main on B-Street, just north of the intersection of B-Street and River Road. It will be installed during Monday, July 21 through Thursday, July 24.  What are the hours? Click here.

 

Infrastructure Improvements

Aqua Pennsylvania, Inc. may be in your neighborhood. It is replacing antiquated piping installed in 1951. The upgrade will increase service reliability, reduce the potential for discolored water, and improve firefighting capabilities in the area. Click here.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24/7. The site provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and gives access to more than 700 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1.
  

Roadwork Ahead 

Nighttime construction is scheduled at the U.S. Route 422/U.S. Route 202 Interchange in Tredyffrin and Upper Merion Township on Sunday from 8:00 PM to 5:00 PM (July 20-25) for concrete pavement patching.
