Remembering
Arthur Powell, a philanthropist and business leader, was honored by the Upper Merion Township Board of Supervisors at its June 26 meeting. Mr. Powell's son and grandson received a proclamation in memory of Mr. Powell. Arthur "Art" Powell touched many lives during his fifty years in Upper Merion. He generously supported many township local non-profit organizations and the township itself, and in doing so, Mr. Powell touched many lives and improved the quality of life for all township residents.

MLB All-Star
Upper Merion Township is pleased to recognize Roberts Elementary School Principal Jabari Whitehead who one of the three finalists for the People Magazine, Major League Baseball and Target All-Star Teacher Award. The winner is selected by popular vote and will represent the Philadelphia Phillies at the 2014 All-Star Game. Please click here to help Principal Whitehead be recognized as the All-Star Teacher we all know he is!
Get Rowing The Upper Merion Crew team will be holding rowing teaching sessions for 7th graders and up to teach them how to row. View more information about this program here.

The Academy of Natural Sciences Museum Pass
Upper Merion Township library users can enjoy a free pass to The Academy of Natural Sciences Museum. All you need is a valid library card. The general admission pass can be used for two adults and five children. Reserve your pass now by contacting the library or through our online catalog. You can check out this pass for a week. Late fee of $1 per day will be charged and there are no renewals. $150 will be charged for lost card.
Meet the author David Lubar
Spend the evening with children and young adult author, David Lubar. You won't want to miss this evening of laugh aloud fun and to get a chance to meet the author and to have your own copy of one of his books signed! This program is for students entering 3rd-to12th grade and their families.
Pop Up Paper Engineering on July 2
On Wednesday July 2nd from 6:30 - 7:30pm, come out and learn how to make your own pop ups in the Henderson Room. This event is open to students in grades 5 - 9. Registration is required so please do so via the on-line events calendar at www.umtownship.org/library or by stopping into the library.
Read to the Dogs
Kids entering Kindergarten -2nd grades are invited to practice their reading skills by reading to our library-reading dogs, Star and Brandy. These greyhound therapy dogs are sympathetic listeners. Sign up for a 10-minute time slot every Wednesday in July between 10:30 - 12:00.
Holiday Notice
The Library will be closed Friday, July 4 through Sunday, July 6 in Honor of Independence Day. We will open Monday, July 7 at 9 a.m.

SENIOR CENTER |
Band Practice
Every Tuesday, from 1:30 to 2:30 PM the Upper Merion Senior Service Center Band practices under the direction of Ed Hickman. Our band is planning to expand. Anyone 55 or older is invited to join. All musicians are invited, especially those who play trombone, french horn, trumpet, guitar, violin and steel drum. We have been selected to perform annually at the Strawberry Festival at the Upper Merion Farmers' Market, a new tradition for our great band.
Line Dancing
The Upper Merion Senior Service Center offers line dancing at 1 PM in the gym on Wednesdays for a small fee of $1.00. The coordinator is Aracelia Panzano.
