Philly Farm Fest

On Sunday, April 13, we'll be heading into the city for the 3rd annual Philadelphia Farm & Food Fest at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. More than 100 exhibitors will be participating.

On Saturday, April 12, you can purchase fresh hot coffee by the cup. Or, take home 12 oz. bags of freshly roasted specialty coffee that includes: Ethiopian, Sumatra and Nicaraguan.  You can order your Easter Sunday ham at the Market too.

The King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company is hosting the event on Sunday, April 13, from 8:00 AM to Noon. More details here. 

 

Time Capsule - "Last Minute Donations"

You still have time.  Please contribute items to the Tricentennial Time Capsule by April 16. We'll celebrate on May 1, and we'll include the 15th birthday of the Residential Rambler. All details are here. 

 

Lining Up Things

Line painting is scheduled to begin the week of April 13 and will continue into June, as weather permits. Mall Boulevard and Dekalb Pike are first on the list. Bob White Park and Bob Holland Park will be getting a touch up as well. Small repairs will be done at various intersections throughout the township.

 

Let's Play Ball

The Upper Merion Men's Softball League "UNLIMITED ARC PITCH", has OPEN registration for softball teams. Players must be 18 and up. Location: Caley Road Elementary School. Registration Deadline: April 30. For more information call Jon Rudinski. (610-724-8456) 

 

Scholarship Opportunities 

The Women's Club of Upper Merion is seeking applicants for its 2014 Scholarship Award. Copies of the scholarship guidelines and application materials are available in the guidance offices of Upper Merion Area High School, Archbishop John Carroll High School, and Pope John Paul II High School. ADC - Early Registration

Earth Day Celebration

The fun begins Saturday, April 26 from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM.  You can visit a variety of vendors, take part in the Earth Day Poster Contest, and the 5K Run & Fun Walk at 8:30 AM. The Carnival games are hosted by the Upper Merion Middle School Science Club Students. Location: Upper Merion Township Building.

Your teenager may be someone we're looking for. The Parks and Rec Department is accepting applications.  We are looking for  camp and swim instructors until April 15.  

 

Courting You

Free Zoo Passes

Upper Merion Township residents may enjoy a free pass to Elmwood Park Zoo. All you will need is a valid library card. Reserve your pass now by contacting the library or through our online catalog. You can check out this pass for a week. There is a charge for lost cards. (610-265-4805)

 

Doctor Is In

Dr. Brandie Nemchenko will be at the library on Thursday, May 1,  at 7:00 PM in the Valley Forge Room to discuss the six leading causes of disability and discomfort in pregnancy. Registration required. (610-265-4805)

 

Financial Literacy Night

On Monday, April 14, at 7:00 PM, the library will be offering an  educational financial literacy event for kids in grades 5 - 8 in the Little Theater.  Learn about saving and spending at this fun game-filled program about money management.  Register today at www.umtownship.org/library

Fire Safety Tip  - Beep! Beep!

Smoke alarms should be installed and maintained in every home. Install them in every sleeping room, outside each separate sleeping area, and on every floor. If you already have smoke alarms, test them every month to make sure you hear the BEEP 

 

Volunteer Spotlight 

Assistant Chief Kevin Smith is being recognized for his volunteer work at the Swedeland Volunteer Fire Company.  He works a full time job and is a devoted father, husband and friend. Chief Smith was presented the 5th Annual George W. Haney Memorial Award at this year's awards banquet. Chief  Smith has served the citizens of Upper Merion Township for 25 years.

Flea Market and Bake Sale

The 17th Annual Flea Market and Bake Sale will take place on Saturday, April 26, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM (rain or shine) at the Center. Our address is: 650 South Henderson Road, King of Prussia, PA 19406.  Table space is $20.00. Pick up a registration form at the Center or get one online.
