   Celebrating Black     History Month 

Rev. Ralph David Abernathy (pictured left) fought for equality and fairness throughout his life. Working alongside Martin Luther King, Jr., Abernathy played a key role in establishing the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in 1957. The SCLC offered civil rights activists the social infrastructure to complete their non-violent protests. Later in life he lead the charge for reforms of southern police departments and hospitals. COMMUNITY 
Crew

The Upper Merion Crew Team will be holding an Open House on Sunday, March 2nd starting at 11:00AM.  All high school students who are interested in rowing are encouraged to attend, along with their parents and friends.  We will have our equipment on display, including the introduction of two newly reconditioned and custom painted four-man boats!  You will meet our coaches who will talk about what they expect and answer questions from potential rower and their parents. The Boosters will also provide food and clothing for sale. If you have any questions, please call Lee at 610-733-0280.

 

Shuffling For A Cause

The Shamrock Shuffle is a 5k fun run/walk starting at the Upper Merion Track- 435 Crossfield Rd. The races will be held on March 9, 2014, with the 5k begining at 9:00 AM and a 1/2 mile kids fun run at 10:30AM. Free t-shirts, post-race snacks, race bags, and great prizes will be given to participants. Registration fee is $15 for the 5k. All proceeds will support the Upper Merion Cross Country Team. Register early and be guaranteed a T-Shirt or register on Race-Day beginning at 8 AM.
  
Be On The Lookout
The 2014 Lafayette Ambulance Fund Drive will kick off next week with information arriving at residences and businesses in the township.

Stay Clear

Residents are asked to clear their local rainwater drains to ensure that snow melt and rain will flow correctly. An ounce of prevention goes a long way!

Upper Merion Library Celebrates Diversity 

Showcase your country at our Multi-Cultural Night. We invite dancers and singers to perform on the evening of Tuesday, March 18.  Wear your ethnic clothes, display art, bring sample foods, posters or pictures of famous monuments and places to visit, suggest books by famous authors from your native country, teach a few words in your language, talk about the uniqueness and rich culture of  your country. Preschool Explorer STEM Story Time

We are hosting a Tech Night on Monday, February 24 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM, for patrons with an ipad or and iphone and need that extra tech help on the basics. Please register and learn from our youth volunteers.

Storm Debris? - Special Collection

The Township's Yard Waste Collection Program has begun. This program is specifically for those individuals who have been affected by the recent storms. It has begun Monday, February 10 and will continue until Friday, February 28. Click here.  
SENIOR CENTER

Bingo Announcement 

BIG Bingo, which was scheduled for March 1, has been canceled and rescheduled for Saturday, October 11.

  

Tax Time 

Tax preparers will be at the Center on Thursdays through April 10.  Remember to bring your tax documents. You must sign up in person, no appointments will be taken over the phone.
