Celebrating Black History Month
Martin Luther King Jr. was an important member of the African-American Civil Rights Movement. His speeches inspired millions to take action against inequality in a non-violent manner.

The 15th annual "Celebration of Black History" will be on Saturday, February 8, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Upper Merion Township Building. The theme this year is, "The Road to Freedom through Culture, Community, and Civil Rights." Admission is free and open to the public.

Meet Anish Deshpande
He is an 8th grader in Upper Merion Area Middle School and a member of Boy Scouts Troop 551. Over the last several months he completed his Eagle Scout project, which was a book-drive for Philadelphia Reads. He collected approximately 3,300 books for this non profit organization. He thanks the community for all its support.

Check us out Saturday, February 15, 2014. Our winter vendors set up on the lower level of the parking lot behind the Township Building every other Saturday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. They have a system in which you can pre-order and then pick your item(s) up during your next market visit. The vendors always bring a little extra to tempt you.

Last Call - Mulch Fundraiser
The Upper Merion Crew Team has been hit with snow storms and freezing temperatures, and the members need your need your help. They are extending their mulch fundraiser to Sunday, February 9, so please tell a friend: Black & Cedar mulch is $4.50/bag ($2.00/bag is tax deductible.) If you live within the UMSD, shipping is free for orders of 10 bags or more. Delivery for mulch is Saturday, March 8.
Detour Alert
PA Route 23 (Valley Forge Rd.), which is the main road through Valley Forge Park, is closed between West Valley Forge Road and PA 252 (Valley Creek Rd) due to a sewer main leak. This closure is essentially the entire length of PA 23 that runs through the Park. Repairs will take a few days.

The King of Prussia Historical Society is postponing its meeting/talk scheduled for Saturday, February 8, at 2:00 PM. A new time and date will be determined.
Mindfulness Seminar The Community Alliance for a Safer Tomorrow (CAST) is sponsoring a Mindfulness Seminar on Tuesday, February 18, from 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM at UMAHS in the Large Group Instruction Room (LGI). Tax Time
Tax Preparers will be at the Center on Thursdays. Allow AARP to prepare your taxes through Thursday, April 10. Bring your tax documentations. You must sign up in person because no appointments will be taken over the phone.
