TX, NY Actions Needed
Peace Corps' Congressional House funding body will soon be deciding whether to give the Peace Corps a budget increase.

Congresswomen Kay Granger (R-TX-12) and Nita Lowey (D-NY-17) are crucial voices on that funding body. Please ask them to provide $450 million for the Peace Corps in FY 2017, and thank them for their strong support of the Peace Corps and its ideals.

If you are a constituent of Congresswomen Granger or Lowey, take action here.

Everyone else? Pleast take action here.

Check out this recent article in Politico by Retired General Anthony Zinni and Retired Admiral James Stavridis on the importance of well-funded foreign assistance pograms, including the Peace Corps.

More actions coming!

Congress will need to hear from you to decide whether to give the Peace Corps a budget increase. Be on the look out for more actions in the coming weeks. Emails, phone calls, Capitol Hill and district office visits will be needed from everybody to advocate for a bigger, better Peace Corps!

Record Breaking Day!
Our 11th annual National Day of Action was one for the record books!

What a day...And - when we come together - what impact!

122 citizen advocates for a bigger, better Peace Corps - the most ever for a March National Day of Action - joined us on Capitol Hill. They held 180 meetings with congressional offices on March 3rd - another record!

With intense follow up around the country, records kept falling. A record 165 members signed the House Peace Corps funding letter - including a record eight Republicans! Coupled with 30 Senators signing a Senate Peace Corps funding letter, this group of 195 lawmakers marked the highest number of letter signers ever!  Read more here. Find out who signed and send thank you messages here.

Special thanks to Congressmen Sam Farr (and Legislative Assistant Ana Sorrentino), Ander Crenshaw (and Legislative Assistant Cate Sadler), John Garamendi, Mike Honda and Joe Kennedy for leadership on the House letter. Thanks also to Senators Johnny Isakson (and Legislative Assistant Ryan Evans) and Dianne Feinstein (and Legislative Assistant Christopher Gaspar) for leadership on the Senate letter.

District Meetings
Last month's Day of Action wasn't just about Capitol Hill.

From Washington and California in the west to Maine and Florida in the east, more than 25 events including happy hours, potlucks, film festivals and more were held by energetic, fantastic Peace Corps advocates in 17 states!

In Georgia, members of the Atlanta Area RPCVs (pictured here) met with Congressman Tom Price, Chairman of the very important House Budget Committee. This was one of roughly a dozen district office advocacy meetings held in conjunction with the Day of Action.

District office meetings with your lawmakers can happen any time of the year! Contact advocacy@peacecorpsconnect.org to meet with your lawmakers.

100 Members?
One great way your Representative can show support for the Peace Corps is to join the House Peace Corps Caucus!

73 members of the House of Representatives are current members of the Caucus. That's ten below the record 83 members in the previous (113th) Congress.

Take action to make sure we reach a new record. And, once we reach 84...we are in striking distance of 100 Caucus members!

#IgnitePeaceCorps

$100,000 has been raised!

As the #IgnitePeaceCorps crowdfunding initiative enters its last two days there is still time to help ensure a documentary film on the past, present and future of the Peace Corps is ready for its projected 2017 completion. And, half your contribution also supports the NPCA!

Education for All

Education is our global issue of concern for the next two months. This coincides with the April 24 - 30 Global Action Week for Education, being celebrated by the Global Campaign for Education-US.

Around the world 124 million children and youth are out of school. One of the Global Action Week activities involves asking members of Congress to support the Education for All Act. Take action here!

We're adjusting to L.A.E...Life After Erica!

Our colleague and friend Erica Burman has departed the NPCA after 12 outstanding years in supporting the Peace Corps community, including seven years as our Communications Director.

One thing you may not know about Erica is the many contributions she made to our advocacy program. That's why she is our featured advocate for April!
