Peace Corps Connect 2016, in conjunction with the Peace Corps' 55th anniversary, will be held in Washington, DC from September 22-25, 2016. The conference itself will take place on Friday and Saturday (Sept. 23-24) and will be preceded by the National Day of Action on Thursday September 22.
Victory! Highest Peace Corps Funding Level Ever
YOU DID IT! We were told "wait until next year," but we came together, redoubled our efforts and helped secure the largest budget for the Peace Corps in its history.

Congress passed and the President has signed a Fiscal Year 2016 spending package that calls for $410 million for the Peace Corps, an increase of $30.5 million over the previous fiscal year.

The $410 million appropriation is the figure requested by President Obama earlier this year.
It will represent the largest dollar figure for Peace Corps spending in the agency's 54-year history ...


Health Care Momentum
"For the first time, it appears we are all working in unison." That was a reaction from Nancy Tongue (Chile 1980-1982) founder of Health Justice for Peace Corps Volunteers (HJPCV), a National Peace Corps Association affiliate group, following three days of meetings aimed at reviewing and advancing an agenda to improve the post-service health conditions for members of the Peace Corps community who confront illness or injuries stemming from their service.

While the challenges are multifaceted and in many cases complicated, there is increased collaboration and commitment among the National Peace Corps Association (NPCA), the Peace Corps agency, HJPCV and key members of Congress to improve the RPCV post-service health experience ...
