Almost Here!

The National Peace Corps Association's (NPCA) 11th Annual National Day of Action in Support of the Peace Corps is Thursday.  We devote our March monthly update to the big day and the many possible ways you can help.

Adopt an Advocate!

Meet Ryan Ruggiero (South Africa 2010-13), our Eastern Pennsylvania Advocacy Coordinator.  Later this week, Ryan will board a bus to travel from Philadelphia to Washington, joining more than 100 Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs), former staff and other supporters from around the country.

These advocates will be your voice on Capitol Hill on Thursday, urging lawmakers to support the Peace Corps.  Support our advocates and support our Day of Action.  Go to our crowdfunding site and help adopt a volunteer advocate from your region.  Or, follow this link to make a donation to NPCA advocacy.  Any contribution - no matter the size - makes a big difference. Thank you!!

Solidarity Events

In at least ten states around the nation, NPCA advocates are assisting with solidarity events, meaning that the 150+ meetings on Capitol Hill will be backed up by constituent communications back home.  Check out the latest and be sure to visit www.peacecorpsconnect.org/dayofaction on Thursday to take individual action and be a voice for a strong Peace Corps!

Capitol
Day of Action Issues

Our primary issue will be to support the President's $410 million Peace Corps funding request.  And...get ready!  Over the next two weeks we will press for signatures in the House of Representatives for the annual Peace Corps funding Dear Colleague letter being circulated by Congressman Sam Farr.
State Resources

They're baaaack!  There were lots of changes to the new 114th Congress.  That means our awesome NPCA interns and volunteers had lots of work in order to update our state resources.  Their work is complete and you can check out our State Resources webpage, just in time for the

Featured Advocates:  Day of Action "Power Couples"!

Approximately six percent of currently serving Peace Corps Volunteers are married couples.

Thursday on Capitol Hill, a similar percentage of married couples will be with us to share their Peace Corps experiences.  We honor several of these RPCV couples - stalwart advocates who bring another inspiring Peace Corps perspective to key decision makers.
