600 Days: Nomination Stalled This is a record no one should be proud of.
It's been more than 600 days - more than twenty months - since the Peace Corps has had a director. That is well over six months longer than any previous time in Peace Corps' history that the agency has gone without a director.
It is time - long past time - for the Senate to hold a confirmation vote on the nomination of Carrie Hessler-Radelet (Western Samoa 1981-83) to be the next Peace Corps Director.
We need a loud, sustained effort by the Peace Corps community. It starts here. Now. |
Great Ideas Speakers Selected For Nashville Conference Earlier this year, the organizers of Peace Corps Connect - Nashville put out a call for few good Returned Peace Corps Volunteers. Making a Peace Corps Difference for Girls Education in Nigeria Boko Haram - If you are ever in need of a name to describe extreme opposition to Western education, it's that one. On April 15, 2014, members of the jihadist group Boko Haram kidnapped over 200 girls from a school in Chibok, Borno in Northern Nigeria.
Their action has inspired the international movement to #BringBackOurGirls. But did you know that the Peace Corps and National Peace Corps Association (NPCA) member groups have a long history of strong support for girls education in Nigeria? |
