Action Alert: Two Letters Need Your Lawmakers' Signatures
We are in the final stages of gathering signatures for a House of Representatives letter being circulated by the five RPCV members of Congress, requesting a return to $400 million for the Peace Corps in the fiscal year that begins in October. Follow this link to take immediate action with your Congressman/woman.
If your Congressman/woman has already signed the Peace Corps funding letter, find out if they have signed a letter to support the family and friends of Kate Puzey, the Benin volunteer who was murdered five years ago. Lawmakers are circulating a "Dear Colleague" letter which requests government officials to "make every effort and devote every resource to achieve justice for Kate Puzey". Follow this link to take action. The Puzey letter is an action in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.

NPCA Thanks Google Chair in Person for Android Donation to Peace Corps Volunteers
On February 27th, a special opportunity to say "thank you" on behalf of the Peace Corps community presented itself in Washington, D.C. Before an audience of over 500 people, RPCV Adam Rosenberg addressed Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt, thanking him for Google's donation of 1,000 Android Nexus tablets to Peace Corps Volunteers via NPCA.
Rosenburg joked that "this is the most high-tech piece of equipment we Volunteers have been issued since we started receiving mosquito nets."

Nominations Open for Shriver Award
The Sargent Shriver Award for Distinguished Humanitarian Service is awarded to a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer who continues to make a sustained and distinguished contribution to humanitarian causes at home or abroad. The award was named to recognize the tremendous contributions of the first Peace Corps Director, Sargent Shriver, in the founding and development of the Peace Corps.
All nomination materials must be submitted by March 31, 2014 at 5 pm ET.

Nashville 2014: RPCV Research Conference Back for Round Three
For those who pursue the Third Goal in the form of graduate or professional school, the RPCV Graduate Research Conference allows passionately engaged RPCVs to connect with their counterparts working in academe. Held in Nashville from June 20 - 21, the schedule for Peace Corps Connect once again features sessions specifically for research presentation and discussion.
The 2014 RPCV Research Conference is open to research at all stages and from all disciplines. Proposals must be submitted by May 5.

Vote for YOUR NPCA Board of Directors
It's that time of year again! The Governance Committee of the NPCA Board of Directors announces the 2014 elections for member-elected representatives to the NPCA Board. The polls are will be open until midnight EST, April 30 for voting. Eligible voters (i.e., NPCA members in the following regions) should have received voting instructions by mail and/or email. The candidates have been nominated to represent these regions for three-year terms:
Candidates have been nominated by an NPCA Member Group or by petition with ten signatures. The length of term is for three years.
