Greetings!

Thank you for your membership!  The MidAtlantic Association of Cleaners (MAC) is striving to provide its members with quality programs and services designed to help make our members stronger.  This is a first step in the re-vamping of MAC's communication vehicles.  These updates will be sent to all members electronically at least monthly and more often as warranted.  Look for other changes coming soon including a greater online presence, new educational programs, and a revamped Newsletter.  Give us a call (800-235-8360) or e-mail us at: midatlanticassociation@comcast.net and let us know how we can work to make you stronger!
MAC Gets a New Look!

The Board of Directors have announced the development of a new MAC Logo!  The association in is the beginning stages of re-vamping the look of the association.  The logo pictured above is one of the first logo's to be used for the association in years.

The logo will be used on all association publications, online communications, letterhead, and more.  The fresh, crisp, clean look is attractive to the eye and  incorporates the colors the association will be using in all its print and online information.
RECORD KEEPING IMPERATIVE TO COMPLIANCE!
One of the main areas of non-compliance for the drycleaning industry is in routine recordkeeping.  If you are ever inspected by a DEP or EPA Inspector, the first things they will look at is your record keeping.   At a minimum, all perc cleaners need to:
  • Track all Perc Purchases as a rolling, 12-month total (month-month)
  • Keep a record of WEEKLY leak checks
  • Keep a record of WEEKLY monitoring results of your refrigerated condenser
  • Keep an up-to-date file of all Hazardous Waste Manifests (both copies stapled together)
MAC can help you with all your compliance needs, and we have record keeping forms available for those that need them.  If you have questions or concerns, or just need guidance, contact Peter Blake  at the MAC Office: 800-235-8360.
Easy to Do Ideas That Work -- Customer Contests!

How Do You Engage Your Customers?

FacebookDo you have a Facebook Page for your business?  Do you keep it current?  Add information?  Engage your customers?  Having a social media presence is a great thing if done right.  An active Facebook page can lead to new business, new sales and increased volume.

Contests are a great way to engage your customers.  From contests to collect e-mail addresses to asking for customers to share experiences, it is a great way to drive traffic to your Facebook and/or Website!  Try highlighting unique work you have done, and some of the great cleaning jobs you have accomplished.  Before and After pictures are powerful.  Invite customers to share their thoughts.  Open ended questions are the best way to really involve your customers. If you have questions about making Social Media and e-mail marketing work for you -- contact MAC today, we can help!

Have an idea?  A helpful Suggestion?  Send them to us and we may publish them in an upcoming The Messenger: Online or on our website.  This is a new regular feature of both this e-mail update.  The idea was first published in a DLI publication of the same title.

I am very excited to be working with the MidAtlantic Association of Cleaners!  meI have been involved with the North East Fabricare Association for over 25 years, and I am excited to bring some of that experience and knowledge to other parts of the East.  We are currently reviewing our programs and services to see what we can improve, strengthen and add.  I have been a featured speaker on marketing, social media, customer service and OSHA training.

We are planning a workshop in November to be held in conjunction with the MAC Board of Directors Meeting.  Keep watch over your emails for the official announcement.

All members are encouraged to call or contact me at anytime.  I want to hear from you!  If there are ways we can better serve you, or things you thing the association needs to be involved in, let us know: (800-235-8360) or e-mail me at peteblke@aol.com.

Sincerely,

Peter Blake,
Executive Director, MAC
