Create your roadmap to success!
Beginning fall 2014, all community college students in California will be required to have an education plan. We have developed an online planning tool to help you create the best plan to meet you academic goals. You can track your progress in your chosen program, as well as plan, schedule, and register for classes. You can even make an appointment with a counselor, all from your education plan. Congratulations graduates!
This year's ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 21 at 7 p.m. at the Viking Stadium (weather permitting). Gates open at 6 p.m. All parking is free. Invitation letters were mailed to students who earned a degree or certificate for summer or fall 2013, and spring 2014. For more information visit: www.dvc.edu/grads
Graduation cap and gown packets are on sale now at the DVC The Book Center, which will be open until 7 p.m. on the day of graduation. The packet price is $28.99.
Fresh flowers and leis will be available for purchase from Gameday Souvenirs, Inc on graduation day.

Book Center announcements
Book buy-back is May 15 - May 21, Monday - Thursday 9 a.m. - 7 p.m., and Friday 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. ID is required. Rental books must be returned by May 22 to avoid penalties. Return rental books inside the store, not at the buyback window.

Financial aid announcements
2014-15 FAFSA now available!
If you plan to enroll for the 2014-15 academic year, the 2014-15 FAFSA is now available. For more information about all financial aid programs please visit DVC Financial Aid.
Are you currently attending or plan to attend DVC in summer 2014? We are still processing 2013-14 FAFSAs. If you haven't already, please complete the 2013-14 FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov to apply for financial aid for the 2013-14 academic year. If you have already applied, please check your InSite email to determine if you have a Missing Information Letter and require a drop-in appointment to submit additional documentation. For assistance please visit the Enrollment Lab.
2013-14 Board of Governor's Fee Waiver application
It's not too late to apply to have your fees waived for the summer 2013, fall 2013, and spring 2014 terms! You may apply online or submit a paper application. Please allow 2-3 weeks for processing. You must be a California resident or AB540 student to qualify for a fee waiver. The deadline to submit a 2013-14 fee waiver application is Wednesday, May 21.
Financial aid lab assistance
Financial aid staff are providing online assistance in completing the 2013-14 FAFSA. Online Board of Governor's Fee Waiver applications, checking your financial aid status in WebAdvisor, and reviewing your financial aid award letter. Visit the Enrollment Lab in the Student Services Center, Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., during the spring term to receive online assistance.
Financial aid drop-in and document submission and/or 2014-15 students who wish to see a financial aid coordinator for general inquiries about their 2013-14 financial aid file, or to submit documents may do so through a drop-in visit. Specific information regarding a student's financial aid cannot be provided over the phone.
Spring drop-in hours: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., and Tuesday: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Summer drop-in hours: Starting May 27, the hours will be Monday - Wednesday 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. and closed on Thursdays. The Financial Aid Office is closed on Fridays and official holidays.
Student IDs
Students visiting the Financial Aid Office are required to show picture ID when checking in at the window. Preferred form of identification is a Diablo Valley College student ID card, which can be obtained through the Associated Students Office (ASO) in the Margaret Lesher Building or the DVC library. Students must take a picture ID and a copy of their current class schedule to ASO to obtain a DVC Student ID card. The Financial Aid Office will also accept state-issued identification cards, a driver's license, or a US passport as identification.

California Dream Act
2013-14 and 2014-15 California Dream Act applications available now! Visit our website for links and valuable information about the California Dream Act. You must be classified as an AB540 student with the Admissions and Records Office to qualify for a Board of Governor's Fee Waiver through the California Dream Act application. The Financial Aid Office will be having financial aid workshops in March and April if you need additional help applying. If you have questions regarding your application status or need assistance, please visit the Financial Aid Office to meet with a financial aid coordinator.

EOPS program reminders
EOPS/CARE Fall 2014 application packets will be available Monday, June 2 in the EOPS/CARE Office. Benefits of being in EOPS include counseling, book vouchers, one-on-one tutoring, priority registration, special events and activities, four-year college transfer assistance, and many more! Find out if you are eligible by picking up and completing an application. Visit the EOPS Office for more information.

A loud siren will be heard throughout the DVC campuses the
first Wednesday of every month at 11 a.m. This will be a test of our Campus Alert System. There is nothing you need to do during a siren test.
In the event of an actual emergency or crisis situation, the siren sound will continue for three minutes. Students and all campus personnel will be instructed to Shelter, Shut, and Listen. For more details, please visit the Contra Costa Community College District website at www.4cd.edu/alert.

Safety reminderIf you are faced with a potentially violent or dangerous situation on campus: First move to a safe location and then immediately contact Campus Police at: ext. 23000 from a campus phone, or 925-680-7000 from your cell phone. (Calling 911 from a cell phone will result in an unnecessary delay.)
Our campus police are highly trained to deal with a wide variety of situations involving students and visitors on campus.

Students, faculty and staff can call 925-229-6464 to provide information without having to leave any personal information.
