UC Santa Barbara is offering a workshop for International Students on the UC application process from 2-3 p.m. in C-103 and 3-5 p.m. for all students in the Counseling Center.

Financial aid announcements
Document submission The Financial Aid Office has returned to accepting documents on a "Drop-In" basis. Drop-in hours: 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, and Tuesday 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Visit the financial aid web page for more information.
It's not too late to apply for Financial Aid for the 2012-2013 academic year! If you are eligible and meet all additional requirements, aid will be disbursed retroactively for fall as well as for the upcoming spring 2013 semester. The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) determines eligibility for the Pell Grant, the Board of Governor's Fee Waiver and the Federal Direct Loan. Please apply at www.FAFSA.gov .

UC Application Labs and Workshops
UC Application Process Workshop for International Students This workshop is designed to give international students an overview of the UC application process and some information on how the personal statement relates to that process. Registration is required.
UC and CSU Application Labs These labs allow students to get personal assistance on their UC and CSU applications. No registration required, first come, first served.
UC Personal Statement Workshops These workshops allow students to get instruction on how to complete a personal statement for the UC application. Registration is required.
UC Personal Statement Review Labs These labs allow students to have a near final draft reviewed prior to submitting your UC application. Registration is required.

Scholarship program
Scholarships are available for DVC students who are continuing or transferring to a four year college or university in fall 2013. One application and two letters of recommendation can qualify you for multiple scholarships. You must be enrolled in six units in the fall 2012 and six units in spring 2013. Thousands of dollars are available through the DVC Scholarship Program. The application period is September 1, 2012 through noon on February 4, 2013. Stop by the DVC Scholarship office for other opportunities.

Are you interested in a career in the trades?
DVC has a new pre-apprenticeship program that can help you to prepare for the required exams for entrance into a variety of apprenticeship programs and to prepare for entry level employment with non-union employers, to research the many career opportunities in the trades, to learn construction basics and to develop successful work-readiness skills. Attend an information session to find out more about the program on Wednesday, November 14 or Thursday, December 6. Both sessions will be from 6 - 8 p.m. in the Trophy Room at DVC. Flu Shot Clinic
Flu shots protect you and your family. A Flu Shot Clinic will be on site at Diablo Valley College on November 8 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the Student Union Building Room 202. Cost: $20 for Flu shot, $25 for Preservative Free Flu shot, and $60 for Pneumonia shot.

California state regulations have changed regarding the ability to repeat non-repeatable credit courses.
If you are thinking of dropping or withdrawing from a class that you have already unsuccessfully attempted in a prior semester, please read this first!

Campus Alert System Your attention please...
A loud siren will be heard throughout the DVC campuses the first Wednesday of every month at 11 a.m. This will be a test of our Campus Alert System. There is nothing you need to do during a siren test.
In the event of an actual emergency or crisis situation, the siren sound will continue for three minutes. Students and all campus personnel will be instructed to Shelter, Shut, and Listen. Free E-Waste recycling event at both Diablo Valley College campuses. Drop off items Saturday, November 3 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. in Pleasant Hill (DVC Overflow Parking Lot #7) and in San Ramon (back parking lot). Visit www.noewaste.com for more information and list of accepted electronic items.
