Message from the President

Happy New Year!
I cannot thank you enough for your continued support in 2012. It was a rough year. We lost too many of our golden friends and that is very sad indeed. We rescued 289 dogs in 2012 and although fewer than the year before, our costs for these dogs were substantially higher. We have seen nearly every medical condition you can imagine.
My hope is that 2013 brings us all health and happiness and that certainly includes our golden retrievers. We have some exciting things planned for this year starting with the Golden Gala on February 23rd - the last Saturday in February as always. We then are going to tackle our first golf tournament on April 8th at the Marietta Country Club. You will see specific articles in this newsletter on these two big events so let us know if you want to get involved and please put these dates in your calendar.
Start out the New Year right and make a resolution to give your dog more exercise, brush your dog every day and give it a daily massage! And, if you have a golden who is 8 years old plus, start getting him/her an ultrasound every six months - it may very well save your golden's life.
Let's make 2013 a golden year!

January Orphan of the Month - Abby CT
Meet Abby CT, our January Orphan of the Month! CT stands for Connecticut -the state where Abby lived. Her family was going to put her down because they couldn't find any other rescue in the Northeast to take her. AGA stepped in and found her transport to Atlanta and she is loving being a southern belle.
Meet Our Adopt A Golden Atlanta January 2013 Orphan of the Month, Abby CT
|
This "just turned" 9 year old beauty loves taking walks, going on car rides and is looking for a calm forever home this January. She likes people in general, but loves belonging to one person. She lives for attention. If you'd like to meet Abby CT and our other orphans, be sure to come out to our Adoption Day this Sunday, January 6.

Our Costs and Prices
| In 2012, we spent nearly $900 per dog rescued on average. This includes spays/neuters, vaccines, heartworm treatments, medications for other issues, surgeries, allergy treatments and you name it, we did it. It also includes any boarding costs we incur while our dogs are waiting for foster homes to open up. Our adoption fees do not come close to covering our costs, so that is why your donations are so important to us.
