Tablas Creek Vineyard - Paso Robles

2011 Patelin de Tablas, Blanc; Was
$25.00, our price is $24.00 and get the second bottle for $1.00

The 2011 Patelin de Tablas Blanc shows fruity, floral aromas of honeysuckle, apricot and candied grapefruit, with a spicy mineral note emerging with air. In the mouth it's mouth-filling with peach and lemon zest flavors and a creamy texture, but kept fresh by vibrant acids. The finish is long, rich and clean, with lingering flavors of peach and mineral. Drink now and for the next 2-3 years.

2010  Cotes de Tablas Blanc, 90 pts., Parker: Was $30.00, our price is $29.00 and get the second bottle for $1.00

The 2010 Côtes de Tablas Blanc features a serious nose, minty with stone fruits and  honeydew lurking underneath. The mouth is broad and rich, peaches and cream, but dry, with a very long finish with a hint of tannin reminiscent of red apple skins, cream, and rocks, nicely saline at the end.

This Week's Village Wine Cellar Features

  • 2012 La Crema, Pinot Gris, Monterey, Was $20.00, Now $15.00: "Bright, fresh, light and filled with all the flavors of spring and summer, La Crema's new Monterey Pinot Gris (also known as Pinot Grigio) is an exciting addition to our family of cool-climate wines."
  • 2012 Chateau Miraval, Rose', Cotes de Provence, 90 pts., Wine Spectator; $28.00: The new sunny, south of France-Mediterranean-wine from Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie! "Refined and elegant, with pure flavors of dried red berry and tangerine, and a focused finish with flint and spice notes."  Wine Spectator.
  • 2011 Orin Swift Cellars, Mannequin, White Blend, Napa Valley; $34.00: The Mannequin is a blend of Chardonnay, Viognier, Semillon, Muscat, and Marsanne. Rich and ripe with tons of fruit character - trademark Orin Swift here! Grab a few bottles before it sells out!
  • 2010 Inglenook, Blancaneaux, Napa Valley, Was $49.00, Now $45.00: "Blancaneaux is a blend of Roussanne, Marsanne, and Viognier grown entirely on the organically farmed vineyards of Rubicon Estate. Created in 1995 as a partner to Rubicon, the estate's flagship red wine, Blancaneaux is produced each year in extremely limited quantities from the mere six and a half acres of white grapes grown on our property."
  • 2011 Kistler Vineyards, Chardonnay, Sonoma Mountain; $73.00: Produced since 1986. Just shy of 1800 feet in elevation, in a small bowl on the western edge of the Mayacama mountains lies the original Kistler planting. Thirty year old vines grow dry farmed in deep red volcanic ash, producing a wine with an intense sense of the mountain heritage of the delicate stone fruit that is lifted, like its McCrea cousin, yet firmer, and with a stronger core and added layers of richness.
  • 2009 Bien Nacido, Vineyards, Pinot Noir, Santa Maria Valley; $60.00: Bien Nacido Pinot Noir was fermented with indigenous natural yeasts, aged for 18 months in French oak, and bottled unfined and unfiltered. A nose of ripe red fruit and crushed flowers leads to a complex, medium bodied palate with notes of raspberry, strawberry, violet and sweet spice. Structured tannins and balanced acidity merge with hints of vanilla on the lingering finish. Enjoy through 2015.
  • 2011 Rochioli, Pinot Noir, Estate, Russian River Valley, 90 pts., Parker; $86.00: The majority of the grapes for this wine are from the Sweetwater Vineyard. The balance is from our many different vineyard sites, including the new planting of West Block.  The wine possesses typical Rochioli characater and classic Russian River Valley charm with black cherry and spice aromas.  Aged in French oak for 15 months, this wine displays a full body and silky texture finish, with a firm and balanced structure.
  • 2010 Firestone Vineyard, Cabernet Sauvignon, Santa Ynez Valley, 90 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $19.00: Our 2010 Estate Cabernet is a great example of the vintage and our site in the Santa Ynez Valley. The nose is generous with cassis, plum, vanilla, dusty spice, cedar, tobacco, clove and toffee. The palate is lush, juicy and balanced, with underlying tannins that add grip to the finish.
  • 2009 Joseph Phelps, Insignia, Proprietary Blend, Napa Valley, 96 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $210.00: The 2009 Insignia has a beautiful deep garnet hue with incredible depth and concentration. Aromas of freshly crushed blueberries and blackberries intertwined with baking spices, cigar box and attractive floral notes are followed by seamless tannins, texture and finish. This wine is focused and fresh, with a youthful showiness.
  • NV Veuve Clicquot, Ponsardin, Brut Rose', Reims, 91 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $69.00: The nose is elegant and generous, with initial aromas of fresh red fruit (raspberry, wild strawberry, cherry and blackberry) leading to dried fruits and biscuit notes (almonds, apricots and brioche). On the palate, the fresh first impression is followed by a fruity harmonious sensation.
  • 2004 Pol Rogers, Brut, Rose', Extra Cuvee de Reserve, Epernay, 93 pts., Tanzer; $125.00: A deep salmon pink color with a fine stream of small bubbles. The nose has aromas of ripe fruits with elements of citrus fruits (blood orange), pomegranate and small wild red berries. On the palate, a deep mineral character fine, creamy ripeness and a hint of vanilla. The wine is tender and smooth with a balance of delicate freshness and refined elegance. A discreet vinosity with a clean and precise finish.

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees

From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr.  is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:

"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."

Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep  we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar.

This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled.  Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised.  As you are aware,  all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm.  This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar.
