This Week's Village Wine Cellar Features
  • 2012 La Crema, Pinot Gris, Monterey, Winery Retail; $20.00, Our Price; $16.00: Bright and balanced, this wine opens with aromas of fresh white peach, Meyer lemon and subtle oral hints. The lush palate is layered with avors of ripe pear, yellow plum, baking spice and exotic tropical notes. Mineral undertones are evident in the lengthy finish, further defining this wine as classic Monterey. -The Winery
  • 2012 Twomey Cellars, Sauvignon Blanc, Napa & Sonoma Counties; $26.00: The 2012 Twomey Estate Sauvignon Blanc has a light straw color with green highlights. It has an enticing nose of guava, honeydew melon, pineapple, custard apple, wet slate and lime zest. On the palate, it has a fruit sweet attack and a fleshy mid-palate that retains crispness due to perfect acid balance. The finish is long and focused, redolent of ripe tropical fruit balanced by citrus freshness.
  • 2012 Orin Swift Cellars, Sauvignon Blanc, Veladodra, Napa Valley; $29.00: Shades of canary yellow shimmer brightly in the glass which draws the nose inward. A vibrant perfume of ripe honeydew melon, fresh peach and citrus notes is immediately noteworthy. The entry is soft and creamy leading to a lively band of acidity which supports rich fruit flavors of mango, fig, pineapple and nectarine. The finish is clean with a nice bit of minerality for added dimension.
  • 2012 Duckhorn Vineyards, Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley; $29.00: This is a classic expression of our Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc with aromas of grapefruit, lemon curd and nectarine, as well as rich, underlying notes of vanilla and homemade marshmallow. A smooth-textured entry gives way to tingling acidity that shows off the citrus elements beautifully, while adding length to flavors of cantaloupe, Asian pear and Fuji apple. The finish is persistent and refreshing with long mineral notes.
  • 2012 Pascal Jolivet, Sancerre, Loire Valley; $28.75: The philosophy of the estate is to allow nature to take its course, as much as possible. The grape juice is fermented naturally, without adding cultivated yeasts in conjunction with thermoregulation. The wines from each different soil type are fermented separately so to allow the terroir to fully express their differences and similarities. A wine of style marked by richness, elegance and smoothness. This wine is powerful and presents a perfect balance.
  • 2009 Gainey Vineyard, Chardonnay, Sta. Rita Hills, Winery Retail, $20.00, Our Price $17.00: Fresh aromas of ripe yellow apple, lemon curd and peach surround rich, creamy flavors of citrus, spiced apple, peach and tropical fruit. Enjoy this white's lovely minerality and a refreshing finish.
  • 2011 Kistler Vineyards, Chardonnay, Sonoma Mountain; $73.00: Produced since 1986. Just shy of 1800 feet in elevation, in a small bowl on the western edge of the Mayacama mountains lies the original Kistler planting. Thirty year old vines grow dry farmed in deep red volcanic ash, producing a wine with an intense sense of the mountain heritage of the delicate stone fruit that is lifted, like its McCrea cousin, yet firmer, and with a stronger core and added layers of richness.
  • 2011 Kosta Browne, Chardonnay, One Sixteen, Russian River Valley; $90.00: From the makers of much sought-after Pinot Noir, this Chardonnay was made from grapes sourced from the same cool growing region, within several miles of the winery's production facility. "One Sixteen" is named for Highway 116, which runs through the Green Valley of the Russian River Valley appellation, where vines grow in sandy, Goldridge soil. According to the winery's tasting notes, it's "a Chardonnay and Pinot Noir sweet spot within the Russian River Valley.
  • 2010 Bergstrom, Chardonnay, Sigrid, Willamette Valley, 95 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $88.00: The 2010 Sigrid Chardonnay is the color of white gold with highlights of green chlorophyll. Classic aromas of white blossoms, honey, citrus, spiced whipped cream, white peach and yellow apple along with an oyster shell-like mineral vein bind this boisterous youngster together with tight-knit seriousness. The youthful cut of this classic in the making is impressive with intense flavors of citrus and stone fruits accented by tea-like qualities, while displaying a rich texture and creamy dessert-like flavor profile of piecrust and fresh pastry cream.
  • 2009 Kongsgaard, Chardonnay, The Judge, Napa Valley, 98 pts., Parker; $225.00: "The 2009 Chardonnay The Judge sparkles on the palate with brilliant layers of fruit. It is bright, articulate and beautifully centered from start to finish. There is a weightless richness that is almost impossible to describe for its pure elegance. A dazzling, crystalline finish rounds out the flinty, mineral-drenched notes. This is easily the equal of any Chardonnay being made in the world today. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2024".

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees

From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr.  is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:

"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."

Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep  we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar.

This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled.  Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised.  As you are aware,  all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm.  This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar.
