This Week's Village Wine Cellar Features
-
NV Vino dei Fratelli, Prosecco, DOC; $10.00: Straw yellow with green reflections, this Prosecco imparts a fruity bouquet, with hints of golden apples. The palate is lush and fruity with balanced minerality on the finish.
-
2012 Bodega Colome Torrontes, Calchaqui Valley, Argentina, 90 pts., Tasting Panel; $15.00: Intense gold in colour with straw highlights, this wine offers floral notes of rose, the citrus aroma of grapefruit and a spicy hint. In the mouth it is fresh, round and well structured with a long fine finish. Elegant and fruity with tropical notes to the fore.
-
2011 Habit Wine Company, Sauvignon Blanc, Santa Ynez; $34.00: Habit's Sauv is completely different than the grassy, bitingly-herbaceous varieties that usually come out of California or New Zealand. It showcases tropical fruit flavors with the faintest hint of spice. What really makes it special, though, is that it's aged on the lees in steel tanks, resulting in a crisp yet round mouthfeel that goes perfectly with oysters on the half shell or grilled fish.
-
2011 Orin Swift Cellars, Mannequin, White Blend, Napa Valley; $34.00: New arrival from Dave Phinney! The Mannequin is a blend of Chardonnay, Viognier, Semillon, Muscat, and Marsanne. Rich and ripe with tons of fruit character - trademark Orin Swift here! Grab a few bottles before it sells out!
-
2011 Kosta Browne, Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast, 375 ml.; $60.00: Light-medium color, translucent. Red fruit aromas of cherry/strawberry/raspberry, Similar red fruit flavors of cherries, strawberries. Nice long aftertaste.
-
2009 Lincourt Vineyards, Pinot Noir, Lindsay's, Sta. Rita Hills, 92 pts., Suckling; $30.00: Our 2009 Lindsay's Pinot Noir is a beautiful example of classic Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir-delicate, subtle and endlessly layered. Notes of black cherry and worn leather explode on the nose followed by a rich brown sugar spice. Blueberry cobbler, lemon zest and freshly ground cardamom round out the palate. Full, ripe and harmonious, this is an intricate yet friendly wine and will resonate with all lovers of Pinot Noir.
-
2009 Inglenook, Cabernet Sauvignon, CASK, Napa Valley, 90 pts., Parker; Was $75.00, Now $50.00: Pronounced aromas of dried cherries, coffee and fine tobacco precede rich flavors of black fruits and hints of licorice and spice. The weight, density and concentration of the fruit coupled with this vintage's textured tannin layers will allow this vintage to develop additional complexity for years to come. Two hours of decanting is recommended before drinking; 2009 is a perfect vintage for collectors.
-
2009 Pahlmeyer, Proprietary Red, Napa Valley, 94 pts., Wine Spectator; $129.00: "The 2009 Proprietary Red is at once elegant, rich and powerful. Brilliant purple in color, aromas of wildflower and rose oil deepen as the wine opens. Flavors of cassis, huckleberry and tar are accented by notes of smoked meats and cardamom. Polished, fine-grained tannins are supple and silky. The multi-layered finish relaxes and evolves with time, indicating age-worthiness." - Kale Anderson, Director of Winemaking September 2012
-
2009 Dalla Valle, Cabernet Sauvignon, Estate, Napa Valley, 96 pts., Parker; $220.00: The first vintage, produced in 1986, established this wine as an instant Napa Valley classic. Select Cabernet Sauvignon is blended with a small percentage of Cabernet Franc and aged in no greater than 60% new French oak. For close to three decades, this standard-bearer has consistently shown impressive structure and velvety berry flavors.

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr. is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:
"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."
Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar. This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled. Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised. As you are aware, all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm. This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar. |
