- 2009 M. Chapoutier, Cotes du Rhone, Belleruche, Blanc; Our price is $15.00  and get the second bottle for $1.00:

Winemaker's notes: Winemaker's notes: Michel Chapoutier says that one of the most difficult tasks of a vineyardist and winemaker is to make a serious, high-quality wine, yet have it remain a good value. His "Belleruche" wines accomplish just that. M. Chapoutier Belleruche Blanc is a great introduction to one of the world's most celebrated wine appellations: the Côtes-du-Rhône region. Blend: 60% Grenache, 20% Clairette, 20% Bourboulenc. The wine is pale yellow in color and clear.

On the nose there is green apple, hawthorn and white blossoms, citrus aromas and exoitic fruits. The taste is fresh and well-balanced, with a lot of fatness and length.

This Week's Village Wine Cellar Features
  • NV Broadbent, Vinho Verde, Portugal, Best Buy, Wine & Spirits; $10.00: Vinho Verde, the most popular white wine from Portugal, is a deliciously refreshing, light wine. "Verde", meaning "Green" refers to the hints of lime color. It is an ideal warm weather wine, excellent for lunch and picnics, or an evening apertif. It makes a brilliant pairing with any fish, shellfish and poultry.
  • 2012 Geyser Peak, Sauvignon Blanc, California, 90 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $14.00: "This tastes bone dry, and it offers acidity that's so clean and racy, it makes your mouth feel like it's shining. The flavors of limes, lemons, hay, white pepper and vanilla are delightful".
  • 2012 Greywacke, Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, 90 pts., Suckling; $20.00: "Wonderful finish to this wine with a full-blown Pouilly-Fume aniseed and lemon rind character. Full and flavorful. Drink now. Ten percent barrel fermented with natural yeast and old barrels. Screw cap".
  • 2012 Kim Crawford, Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, 91 pts., Wine & Spirits; $15.00: "Decant this wine to get past its initial reduction and you'll find a generous, citrus-scented sauvignon, its aromas ranging from Kaffir lime to fresh tangerine. The reduction shifts toward flintness, adding an edge for roast scallops or any roast fish."
  • 2012 Kim Crawford, Sauvignon Blanc, Spitfire, Small Parcel, Marlborough; $26.00: An intensely rich wine with a multitude of flavours. It is held together with firm acidity, beautiful fruit sweetness and lashings of tropical fruit flavours. The wine has good length and is very persistent in the mouth.
  • 2009 Robert Mondavi, Merlot, Napa Valley; Winery retail is $23.00, our price is $15.00: A full-bodied yet supple wine, this Napa Valley Merlot has good structure, with excellent acidity. This wine balances the rich abundance of Merlot's black currant aromas and flavors with the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon and the influences of new French oak. Full-bodied with soft, round tannins and plush mouthfeel, this Merlot shows a mature intensity that extends all the way into a smooth, silken finish.

  • 2011 Habit, Pinot Noir, La Encantada Vineyard, Sta. Rita Hills; $55.00: The first Pinot Noir release from up and coming Santa Barbara winemaker Jeff Fischer who's handcrafted, miniscule production bottlings have found their way onto some of the top wine lists in the country including Spago, Michael Mina and Eleven Madison Park. There were only five barrels produced of this focused, powerful effort from one of the best vineyards in Sta. Rita Hills. Highly recommended.
  • 2010 Pahlmeyer, Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast, 92 pts., Wine Enthusiast: $75.00: "Floral aromas and those of plum and black cherry come to the fore instantly, while darker forest floor and spice characteristics develop more slowly.  An intense and expressive Pinot with medium body, and pure focus through the finish.".
  • 2009 Pahlmeyer, Merlot, Napa Valley, 94 pts., Wine Spectator, Top 100, 2012; $77.00: "Plush and richly structured, but with a dense, structured core, offering aromas of red currant and toasty mocha that lead to complex flavors of black cherry and Asian spice. Loamy, ripe tannins sneak in on the finish."
  • 2009 Pahlmeyer, Proprietary Red, Napa Valley, 94 pts., Wine Spectator; $129.00: "This Bordeaux-like expression offers a mix of cedar-laced tobacco, dried berry, loamy earth and herbal notes. Young and tightly wound, this unfolds slowly and gracefully, and looks like an ideal choice to lay down."

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees

From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr.  is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:

"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."

Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep  we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar.

This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled.  Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised.  As you are aware,  all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm.  This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar.
