Spring $1.00 SALE, this week is:
Trinchero, Napa Valley

- 2012 Sauvignon Blanc, Mary's Vineyard, Winery Retail is $25.00, Our Price is $24.00 and Get the Second Bottle for $1.00:
Winemaker comments: "Mary's Vineyard is a warm place to grow aromatic whites and I have been pleased with the balance of ripe fruit and acidity in the grapes from this  vineyard. The wine is fermented entirely in stainless steel, with no oak-I like my white wines clean and refreshing. It is unmistakably Sauvignon Blanc with subtle hints of wet limestone, yet also boasts warm Napa Valley stonefruit and tropical aromas and flavors complimented by a round mouthfeel and a refreshing citrus undercurrent in the finish." - Mario Monticelli

- 2009 Meritage, Red Wine, 93 pts., The Tasting Panel, Winery Retail is $50.00, Our Price is $49.00 and Get the Second Bottle for $1.00:
A blend of choice lots from several vineyards, this is a favorite of the  winemaker because he gets to be the chef in putting together the final cuvée. This harvest, it's 72 percent cabernet sauvignon, 15 percent merlot,8 percent petit verdot and 5 percent cabernet franc. A well-balanced red that at once entices with intense black fruit aromas, the wine offers a mouthful of blackberries and ripe black cherries that stretches into a long, lush, silky finish, attributed to the soupçon of cabernet franc. Serve this with roast chicken and vegetables, or even a long simmering fish/shellfish stew.

  • 2012 Girard, Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley; Was $18.00, Now $15.00: Aromatics lean towards bright citrus, lemon peel and tropical notes. On the palate the citrus notes define themselves as lime zest with a touch of grapefruit. Tropical notes help round out the palate with hints of mango. Bright acidity helps cleanse the palate.
  • 2010 Girard, Artistry, Proprietary Red, Napa Valley; Was $45.00, Now $35.00: "Our 2010 Artistry has aromas of toasted hazelnuts and festive Christmas spices. Boysenberries and currants saturate the palate aside flavors of exotic bing cherries. Well-structured tannins round out this vintage with a beautiful, tobacco and spice finish. Enjoy this wine with your favorite cut of meat or a tasty spaghetti with marinara. It is an ideal wine selection for making an impact on your family and friends!"
  • 2009 Etude, Pinot Noir, Carneros; $43.00: Ruby and garnet in color, the 2009 Carneros Pinot Noir offers aromas of black cherry, Asian spice and sous bois that are lifted by a concentrated fresh fruit core. Consistent with the nose, the palate also demonstrates the qualities of a well balanced Pinot Noir: refined tannins, bright acidity, a generous mouthfeel and a lingering finish. Due to the cool conditions of 2009 vintage, this wine offers an exceptional fresh acidic structure and fruit balance, which furthers its Burgundian like qualities.
  • 2009 Fess Parker, PInot Noir, Ashley's Sta. Rita Hills, 91 pts., Suckling; $49.00: winemaker's notes: Scents of black cherry, raspberry, cinnamon and all spice combine with graham cracker, vanilla and sandalwood on the nose. Layers of black cherry, red currant and cranberry are enhanced by a touch of earth and minerals that are rounded out by vanilla and baking spices for a long lingering finish on the palate.
  • 2011 Fess Parker, Chardonnay, Ashley's Sta. Rita Hills, 91 pts., Connoisseur's Guide; Was $35.00, Now $29.00: This Chardonnay shows bright apple, pear and citrus fruit flavors complemented by attractive mineral, vanilla and toasty oak notes that add depth and complexity. Enjoy!

  • 2012 Ferrari Carano, Pinot Grigio, Sonoma County; winery retail is $17.00, our price is $15.00: Individual lots of hand-harvested Pinot Grigio grapes are gently whole-cluster pressed to minimize any color or harsh tannin extraction, then racked to stainless steel tanks for a cold fermentation. This wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation in order to retain its bright flavors and crisp acidity. Depth and complexity increased with weekly lees stirring until bottling.
  • 2012 Ferrari Carano, Fume Blanc, Sonoma County, 90 pts., Connoisseur's Guide; $15.00: Ferrari-Carano Fume Blanc is a blend of vineyard lots from various appellations of Sonoma County - Dry Creek, Alexander and Russian River Valleys. We focus on sites with well-drained soils and different rootstocks in order to craft a wine that is refined and elegant with a rich palette of fruit. Zesty flavors and aromas of grapefruit, citrus and honeydew mingle with a subtle grassy note that is complemented by a lingering finish of mango and guava. Aging partially in stainless steel and older French Oak gives this wine a crisp freshness and a subtle oak character that adds great complexity and depth.
  • 2011 Ferrari Carano, Chardonnay, Sonoma County; winery retail is $23.00, our price is $20.00: "Lots of wine from our vineyards in Alexander Valley, Russian River Valley,Carneros and Dry Creek Valley. Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees

From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr.  is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:

"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."

Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep  we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar.

This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled.  Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised.  As you are aware,  all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm.  This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar.
