2008 DuMol, Syrah, Russian River Valley

Jack Robert's Run, 90-93 pts., Parker; Our Price is $88.00 & Get the Second Bottle for $1.00

Saturated purple color; wonderfully intense high-toned floral aromas with sage, cracked pepper, bacon and blue fruit notes. Cassis, blueberry and blackberry liqueur dominate the palate with a swirling inner-mouth violet floral perfume.Great density and volume but also sleek, focused, long and elegant. Rich tannins and snappy acidity combine on apeppery youthful finish. Cellar for at least two years or decant before serving. Drink between 2012 and 2020.

Eddie's Patch, 91-93 pts., Parker; Our Price is $94.00 & Get the Second Bottle for $1.00
Dark ruby purple; dark complex brooding aromas of earth, meat, tobacco and tapenade open to sweeter blackberry floral notes. Cassis, graphite and violet lead to dried herb and savory notes on the palate. As the wine opens,  the natural fruit sweetness develops with a smoky mineral streak and bittersweet chocolate notes. Round elegant tannins offer grip and density to the lingering finish. Cellar for at least two years or decant before serving. Drink between 2012 and 2020.

This Week's Village Wine Cellar Features
  • 2009 Happy Canyon, Cabernet Franc, Chukker, Santa Ynez Valley; $17.00: Fresh and delicious Cab Franc (with a little bit of Merlot, Cab and Syrah for depth and texture) this wine is pure fun. Serve on the cooler side (though not cold) for the full Paris bistro experience at home.
  • 2011 Belle Glos, Pinot Noir, Meiomi, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Sonoma, 92 pts., Wine Spectator, Smart Buy; $23.00: Dark and rich, showing toasty mocha oak flavors, with a beam of wild berry, raspberry, cola, vanilla and spice. Long on the finish. Drink now through 2020.
  • 2010 Shea Wine Cellars, Pinot Noir, Estate, Willamette Valley, 91 pts., Tanzer; $45.00: Sourced from throughout Shea Vineyard this is classic Oregon Pinot Noir. It displays violet aromas, red fruit on the palate and a spicy long finish. The Estate is big but not overpowering. The tannins are smooth, the acidity bright and the wine structured and balanced.
  • 2009 WillaKenzie Estate, Pinot Noir, Aliette, Willamette Valley, 91 pts., Wine Spectator; $48.00: Ruby/garnet in color with an exceptional bouquet of dried violets, lavender, strawberry and hints of cedar. Balanced, supple and very expressive on the palate, it manages to be light and graceful yet powerful at the same time. Red currant, black cherry, raspberry, tea leaves and earth give this medium-bodied wine layers of complexity that linger on the palate for well over a minute.
  • 2008 Clos I Terrasses, Clos Erasmus, Priorat, 99 pts., Parker; $189.00: Glass-staining ruby. A wild, highly aromatic bouquet displays raspberry, blackberry, violet and spicecake, with a strong mineral element that gains strength with air. Juicy, penetrating red and dark fruit flavors are given depth by a note of bitter chocolate and include strong mineral spine. The spice and floral notes resonate on a very long, sappy, pure finish.
  • 2007 Tenuta di Arceno, Toscana Il Fauno di Arcanum, 90 pts., Wine and Spirits; $25.00: On the nose, a complex blend of dark morello cherries, spice and dark mocha minerality comes together. The flavors of this wine are powerful and harmonious. Blackberry, black cherry and cassis tones are expressed within an integrated core of minerality. The tannins are firm yet integrated, with a long finish, driven by a firm core of acidity.

  • 2009 Tenuta San Guido, Sassicaia, Bolgheria, Tuscany, 96 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $210.00: Intense, concentrated and deep ruby-red, this wine offers complex aromas of red and black fruits, with spice and wild herb notes. In the mouth, the rich flavors are dense, yet elegant, harmonious and graceful, with sweet but firm tannins. With a long finish, this wine's depth and structure will ensure an extraordinary evolution in bottle.
  • 2009 Tenuta dell'Ornellaia, Ornellaia, Bolgheri, Tuscany, 97 pts., Parker; $219.00: "The 2009 Ornellaia caresses the palate with layers of seamless, radiant fruit. Sweet red berries, mocha, flowers, new leather and spices are some of the many notes that are layered in this sumptuous, totally beautiful wine. The 2009 stands out for its silky tannins and phenomenal overall balance. This is one of those wines that will probably enjoy a long drinking window... Ornellaia is a slightly more complete wine than Masseto in 2009."
  • 2006 Schramsberg, Blanc de Blancs, 3 Litre, 91 pts., Connoisseur's Guide; $279.00: "This attractive Blanc de Blancs manages at one and the same time to be loaded with character yet remains also on the energetic, well-fruited side. Its aromas are more creamy than "old yeasty" with notes of chalk and vanilla sitting in for the toasty notes that come with longer aged wines. Firm and abundant in its foamy, insistent mousse, this buoyant wine has the richness to go with foods like chicken in cream sauces and the acidity to make it a stellar mate to tangy shellfish dishes."

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees

From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr.  is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:

"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."

Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep  we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar.

This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled.  Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised.  As you are aware,  all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm.  This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar.
