Spring $1.00 Sale!
Cline Cellars, California
Mix or Match any of these 3 wines -
Get the first bottle for $18.00 and Get the Second Bottle for $1.00
- 2010 Viognier, North Coast, Sonoma; $18.00:
Straw-yellow. Perfumed aromas of stone fruits, pineapple and flowers. Bright, juicy, spicy and dry, with brisk citrus flavors complicated by a sake-like saline character. This savory, persistent wine should pair well with spicy foods.
- 2009 Zinfandel, Ancient Vines, California; $18.00:
Medium red. Musky berries, roast coffee and a whiff of maple syrup on the nose. Creamy-sweet in an old-vines way, showing good breadth to its dark berry, chocolate and coffee flavors. Finishes with smooth tannins and a peppery nuance. Very ripe zinfandel but could use more primary fruit and lift.
- 2010 Mourvedre, Ancient Vines,Contra Costa County; $18.00: From the great grape of Bandol, this is the closest take on that tradition in all the new world. Cocoa powder first strikes the nose and then come floral notes that then give way to a core of plum fruit whose sweet flesh and tart skins make for a wondrous tension and texture through the finish. 14% alcohol.

This Week's Village Wine Cellar Features
-
2010 Au Bon Climat, Pinot Noir, Santa Barbara County; $24.00: This wine is just easy to drink. Whether with fresh grilled salmon or left-over roast chicken or just in a glass by itself, the pretty plum and spring strawberry flavors of ABC SB Pinot are simply delicious. There is nothing pretentious here, just well balanced, nicely textured, brightly fruity wine that seems to go with everything.
-
2010 Evening Land, Pinot Noir, Estate, Sta. Rita Hills; $43.00: Dark reddish-purple color in the glass. Aromas of black berries, black grapes, tea leaf, dried herbs and mushrooms. Exotic and savory with an enjoyable core of fresh dark berries and a soft note of citrus-flavored cranberries on the finish.
-
2009 Sanford Winery, Pinot Noir, La Rinconada, Sta. Rita Hills, 95 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $60.00: The wine is deep garnet red in color and is exploding with spicy raspberry and cranberry aromas with hints of pepper and smoked tea. The palate delivers flavors of bing cherry framed nicely by bright acidity. The mid palate is rich and round and leads to a lingering finish suggestive of dusty chocolate.
-
2009 Sequana, Pinot Noir, Sundawg Ridge, Russian River Valley, 95 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $51.00: "Another great release from Sequana of this single-vineyard bottling, which hails from the golden slopes of the cool, southwestern part of the Russian River Valley. It's rich in raspberry, pomegranate and persimmon fruit, elaborated with sweet new French oak, but saved from being merely ripe by a firm minerality and brilliant acidity. Should develop interestingly over the next 10 years."
- 2010 Hartford Court, Pinot Noir, Arrendell, Russian River Valley, 94 pts., Tanzer; $95.00: "Bright ruby-red. Intensely perfumed bouquet of fresh red berries, cherry-cola and Asian spices. Sweet raspberry and gingerbread on the palate, with silky tannins adding shape. Gains sweetness and intensity with air, picking up black raspberry and floral character while maintaining superb clarity. This very elegant pinot is balanced to age."
-
2010 Argyle, Pinot Noir, Reserve, Willamette Valley; $40.00: "Bright red. Fresh red berries and flowers on the fragrant nose. A juicy, spicy midweight with tangy redcurrant and bitter rhubarb flavors gaining sweetness with air. The focused, taut finish shows lingering notes of raspberry and white pepper."
-
2010 Adelsheim, Pinot Noir, Elizabeth's Reserve, Willamette Valley, 92 pts., Tanzer; $55.00:This wine is both elegant and intense, offering layered aromas of red raspberries, fresh Oregon strawberries, brown spice and cedar. Its aromas are reflected on a palate that speaks of purity and elegance, and is exceptionally balanced with silky tannins and a persistent finish. This wine will pair beautifully with the Pinot noir classics - lamb, duck, grilled salmon, and aged cheeses.
- 2010 Seghesio, Zinfandel, Rockpile, Dry Creek Vineyard, 92 pts., Tanzer; $40.00: The 2010 exhibits classic Rockpile briary mountain fruit and spicy black cherry, with undertones of crushed rocks, sage, and pepper, enveloped in layers of creamy vanilla and toasty oak spices. This is full-bodied, rich, and powerful, with the acid and tannin structure suited for a pairing with grilled meats, stews, or braises.
- 2010 Hartford, Zinfandel, Highwire Vineyard, Old Vines, Russian River Valley, 93 pts., Parker; $55.00: Consistently distinctive cracked white pepper nuances differentiate the Highwire single-vineyard Zinfandel from our other Zinfandel bottlings. Concentrated blackberry and boysenberry fruit aromas and flavors are a signature of this vineyard each year and complement cracked pepper and allspice nuances that linger. A multi-layered finish that seems to go on forever almost encourages a 'cult following' for this sought after single vineyard old-vine Russian River Valley Zinfandel.

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr. is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:
"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."
Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar. This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled. Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised. As you are aware, all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm. This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar. |
