Winter $1.00 Sale!
Buy One And Get the 2nd Bottle for $1.00!

  • 2008 Lincourt, Estate, Sta. Rita Hills; Winery retail is $30.00, our price is $29.00 and get the 2nd bottle for $1.00: The 2008 Lincourt Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir is a blended wine from our meticulously maintained,
estate vineyards within the Sta. Rita Hills AVA. This fruit was hand-harvested and sorted in the vineyard prior to arrival at the winery. The clusters were then carefully destemmed to keep the berries intact. Jack stems were removed before the fruit was transferred to small, stainless steel, open-top fermenters. The must (juice and skins) underwent a cold-soak for four days prior to inoculation with cultured yeast and was then gently punched down for 14-24 days. After primary (alcoholic) fermentation was complete, the new wine was drained and the skins were gently pressed. These two fractions were then settled separately and introduced to barrels.

  • 2008 Williams Selyem, Vista Verde Vineyard, San Benito County, 93 pts., Tanzer; Our price $99.00, and get the second bottle for $1.00: WInemaker's Notes: Another tremendous vintage from our vineyards in the Central Coast. The ripe aromas of wild raspberry, green tea, mocha and spice direct the nose. This wine shows richer and broader tannins than the 2007 edition, with a better overall concentration and depth of fruit. A long sweet finish of boysenberry, wild flowers, minerality and silky-smooth oak help to complete this wine. Blended from the more mature blocks on this ranch, this wine seems to be finally coming into its own.

This Week's Village Wine Cellar Features

Pinot Noir

  • 2010 Sanford Winery, Sta. Rita Hills, 375 ml., 90 pts., Wine Spectator; $22.00:  The 2010 Sanford Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir is a blend of fruit from our two estate vineyards: La Rinconada (75%) and the historic Sanford and Benedict Vineyard (25%). Both of these stellar vineyards are in the heart of the Santa Rita Hills. A mix of vineyard blocks with eight different clones gives this wine great complexity. The wine is deep red in color and is bursting with bright red fruits like raspberry and bing cherry with hints of spicy orange rind, white pepper and sage on the nose. The palate delivers silky berry flavors balanced nicely by bright acidity and ripe tannins.  The wine was allowed to age in French Oak barrels (30% new oak) for 10 months where it gained concentration and picked up hints of vanilla and anise.
  • 2009 Row Eleven, Vinas 3, Sonoma, Santa Barbara &  Monterey; $20.00:

"Row Eleven has a contract with Pinot Noir lovers. We will deliver a luscious red wine, rich in cherry pie aromas with a silky smooth finish, at a great price. Vinas 3 is a blend of Sonoma, Santa Barbara and Monterey vineyards. It is about Pinot Noir itself, and less about any particular region or vineyard. Crisper in acid, rich in cherry pie flavors, lower in alcohol. Enjoy New World with a nod to the Old. Vinas 3 makes good on our contract."

  • 2008 Raptor Ridge, Shea Vineyard, Oregon, 375 ml., 92 pts., Wine Spectator; $24.00: "Juicy and expressive, brimming with currant, blackberry, mineral and iron flavors. Rare meat notes add interest to the finish as it sails on nicely. Shows power and refinement. Best from 2012 through 2018. 355 cases made."
  • 2008 Raptor Ridge, Reserve, Willamette Valley, 92 pts., Wine Spectator; $35.00: The 2008 Reserve is pleasing to the eye, with saturated crimson and bright purple hues. Brooding aromas of mocha and smoky vanillin of oak mix with ripe blackberry and blueberry fruit. The palate is structured round and full, revealing rich plum and spice cake flavors cloaked in silky yet meaty tannins.
  • 2010 Morgan, Twelve Clones, Santa Lucia Highlands, 92 pts., Wine Spectator; $32.00: This special wine demonstrates the power and finesse of Pinot Noir from the Santa Lucia Highlands. It displays aromas of plum, dark chocolate and cola. Flavors of blackberry and cherry are complemented by notes of leather and black tea. Perfectly poised fruit/acid balance make this incredibly food-versatile. It is a wonderful accompaniment to roast chicken and grilled salmon, as well as almost any duck, beef or lamb preparation.
  • 2010 Shea Wine Cellars, Estate, Willamette Valley, 91 pts., Tanzer; $45.00: An elegant wine that is the best Estate bottling from Shea ever! The fruit to make this wine was harvested from throughout Shea Vineyard. The wine has a deep ruby-red color. Beautiful floral notes define the wine's wonderful bouquet. On the palate are flavors of cherry and dark red berry complimented by sweet spices and a rich texture wtih fine grain tannins.
  • 2010 Hirsch, Estate, San Andreas Fault, Sonoma Coast, 92 pts., Parker; $67.00: Tasting Notes - Upon opening, dark fruits, pomegranate, figs, orange blossom and bergamot on the nose. Evolving with time to show dried and fresh flowers, cherries and forest floor. On the palate, taut acidity, supple tannins and the restrained fruit of a cool vintage.
  • 2010 Domaine Serene, Coeur Blanc, Dundee Hills, Oregon; $95.00: Coeur Blanc is a unique, barrel-fermented white wine made from fully mature, 100% estate-grown Pinot Noir grapes. It is full-bodied, richly textured and has a flavor profile that captures both the red and white wine characteristics of our cool climate growing region. With aromas of white rose, apple, stone fruit, and spice, this rich and velvety white wine offers balanced acidity, a creamy texture and a silky smooth finish.
  • 2010 Paul Hobbs, Lindsay Estate, Russian River Valley, 95 pts., Parker; $99.00: "Deep ruby in color, our Katherine Lindsay Estate Pinot Noir is perfumed with clove, Bing cherry and clean earth. The palate is firmly structured, opening with perfectly ripened raspberry and blackberry that yield to luscious dark chocolate and vanilla bean. Notes of thyme and bergamot tantalize the mid-palate. Firm yet velvety tannins and a touch of clove linger over a lengthy finish."

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees

From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr.  is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:

"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."

Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep  we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar.

This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled.  Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised.  As you are aware,  all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm.  This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar.
