Fall $1.00 Sale! Buy One And Get the 2nd Bottle for $1.00!
- 2010 Merryvale, Chardonnay, Starmont, Napa Valley, 375 ml.: $12.00: From their website: "The fruit for Starmont Chardonnay is grown in our favorite cooler areas of the Napa Valley, including the Oak Knoll District and Carneros, including our Stanly Ranch
Estate Vineyard, where the maritime influence keeps the focus on crisp, vibra nt fruit. The fruit was carefully sorted and whole-cluster pressed to preserve freshness. The light oak treatment gives a round mouth feel and improved complexity, while hi ghlighting the fruit driven focus of the wine."
- 2008 Chalk Hill, Chardonnay, Russian River Valley, 375 ml.: $19.00:

Chalk Hill's potential for great Chardonnay was discovered early and it became one of the initial plantings. The oldest, Founder's Block dates back to the establishment of the winery, in 1972, and remains a keystone in the estate's Chardonnay program. the Estate Bottled Chardonnay is assembled from vineyard blocks that each provides an individual lot of finished wine- 100% Chardonnay, but from a variety of clonal selections- and from a variety of sites on the estate.
- 2010 Capture, Chardonnay, Ma Vie Carol, Sonoma County, 750 ml.,
92 pts., Wine Spectator: Winery Retail $48.00. Our Price $47.00: Classy for its rich core of flavors, this touches on citrus, ripe pear, honeydew melon, smoke and wet rock, firming and ending with an excellent density and concentration. Drink now through 2018. Winemaker notes: "Fermentation in French oak barrels and ageing on the lees enhance the aromatic complexity, with aromas of white peaches, freshly-cut Asian pear, and honeysuckle. The minerality of this Chardonnay is due to the terroir and altitude of our vineyard. The well balanced, creamy texture, yet fresh elegant mouth-feel and lingering finish confer to this wine its Puligny-Montrachet like style."

This Week's Village Wine Cellar Features! Sonoma and Napa Valley Whites - 2010 Peju Province, Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley; Was $22.00, Now $15.00: The 2010 Sauvignon Blanc exhibits lime zest, lemon curd, pink and white grapefruit, and hints of minerality on the nose. On the palate, flavors of grapefruit, guava, passion fruit, and lychee are keenly balanced with fresh, crisp acidity.
- 2011 Hanna, Sauvignon Blanc, Estate, Russian River Valley; Was $19.00, Now $16.00: "Our 2011 SB has vibrant straw coloring with a tinge of green. The aroma is of kaffir lime, orange blossom, kumquat with a touch of cool slate and vanilla bean. You will find flavors of mango, peach, and pomelo that lead the way with a zingy ripe nectarine mid-palate and an adroit, seamless finish."
- 2011 St. Supery, Virtu, White Meritage, Napa Valley; $30.00: This pale yellow wine is speared by streaks of brilliant youthful green. Bright aromas of lemon zest, guava and pink grapefruit combine with seductive nuances of toasted oak and sur lie maturation. The flavors follow with lemon zest, lychee, guava, grapefruit rind and a subtle creaminess enhanced by the smoky barrel notes. This is a vibrant, textured wine with tremendous flavor. Enjoy!
- 2011 Apha Omega, Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley; $36.00: At Alpha Omega, our goal is to create a balance between Bordeaux-style Sauvignon Blanc, which we barrel fermented to give more of a mouth feel, and a New Zealand-style Sauvignon Blanc, which is crisp, fresh and expressive. Sauvignon Blanc is a varietal with a high acidity, so we never allow it to go through malolactic fermentation to ensure we keep the backbone of freshness and the varietal's fragile aromatics.
- 2009 Matanzas Creek, Chardonnay, Sonoma County, 93 pts.; Was $29.00, Now $22.00: Bright straw in color. The nose delivers notes of honey lemon. After a swirl, honeysuckle flower, tropical fruit and white currant become more evident. A silky texture with pineapple, bright citrus and soft minerality.
- 2009 Ramey Wine Cellars, Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast, 92 pts.; Was $39.50, Now $30.00: Bright gold. Complex, intensely perfumed bouquet evokes fresh melon, tangerine, white flowers and gingerbread. Juicy and precise, offering lively citrus and spice flavors with a subtle touch of honey. Shows impressive clarity and energy on the finish, with the spice and floral notes repeating.
- 2011 Rombauer, Chardonnay, Carneros, Napa Valley; $37.00: Rich yellow color and becoming more golden with age. Inviting fruit aromas of honeydew, yellow peach and fig are supported by vanilla and caramel. Creamy vanilla integrates with honeysuckle, pineapple and apricot for a fabulous richness on the palate. A luscious mouthfeel leads to a generous and creamy finish. Pleasantly voluptuous from a cooler vintage.
- 2010 Cakebread Cellars, Chardonnay, Napa Valley; $45.00: boasts an attractive light golden-straw color and fresh, lightly buttery, ripe golden apple, pear and citrus aromas, complemented by seductive vanilla and cinnamon/nutmeg scents from oak aging and subtle yeast tones from lees contact. Lush, concentrated and creamy on the palate, its ripe apple, melon, bright citrus and baking spice flavors culminate in a long, beautifully structured finish boasting crisp acidity and zesty mineral and spice tones.
- 2010 Palmaz, Chardonnay, Amalia, Napa Valley; $58.00: Balance and elegance is our goal every year with our Chardonnay. We choose to source fruit both from the East and West side of Napa contributing inviting layers of citrus aromas and rich tropical flavors. Our Chardonnay is cold fermented underground in barrel and aged sur-lies year for 7 months to ensure a subtle richness that does not overwhelm the fruit characteristics.

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr. is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:
"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."
Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar. This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled. Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised. As you are aware, all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm. This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar. |
