Fall $1.00 Sale! Buy One And Get the 2nd Bottle for $1.00!
2010 Schweiger, Sauvignon Blanc, Sonoma County, Winery Retail; $25.00, Our Price is $24.00 and Get the Second Bottle for $1.00.
Winemaker Andrew Schweiger Notes: Our goal is to preserve the fresh fruit quality while enhancing the mouth feel through barrel fermentation in 3-8 year old French oak, aged surlies for 4 months and hand stirred twice a week. The aromatics of this wine blend a broad spectrum from lemongrass, citrus, and green apples to apricot, melon, and tropical fruits along with a faint grassy component. The acidity of this wine makes it refreshing and food friendly 2010 Supery, Sauvignon Blanc, Dollarhide, Napa Valley, 93 pts., Wine & Spirits, Winery Retail: $35.00, Our Price is $34.00 and Get the Second Bottle for $1.00. Winemaker's Notes: This wine presents with brilliant hues of pale yellow pierced by youthful streaks of green. Opulent aromas of grapefruit, lemon rind and subtle caper are enveloped by a seductive background of toasted vanillin oak, evident of the barrel fermentation component. Crisp flavors of grapefruit follow with key lime, a hint of orange marmalade and a roasted French oak background. This is a terrific Sauvignon Blanc with tremendous intensity of flavor, yet an elegant appeal.

This Week's Village Wine Cellar Features! Napa Valley Reds - 2009 Shafer, Cabernet Sauvignon, One Point Five, 93 pts., Tanzer; $79.00: This is a Cabernet that is so enjoyable now and will just get better with time in the cellar. Aromas of rich, polished black fruit, mocha, and spice, followed by fulsome, juicy flavors of blackberry and black cherry, chocolate, plum and cedar, with ripe, smooth tannins and a pleasingly long finish.
- 2009 Shafer, Syrah, Relentless, 93 pts., Parker; $69.00: The 2009 Relentless is a big, explosive wine bursting with dark red fruit, flowers and spices. This is a young wine with plenty of life, but the 100% new French oak is a bit more obvious here, which suggests the wine may not quite have the stuffing to support the oak.
- 2008 Shafer, Cabernet Sauvignon, Hillside Select, 96 pts., Parker; $250.00: "... one of the New World's most profound Cabernet Sauvignons ..." - Robert M. Parker, Jr., The Wine Advocate
- 2010 Caymus Vineyards, Cabernet Sauvignon; $88.00: Family owned and run, Caymus Vineyards produces some of Napa Valley's finest Cabernet Sauvignon. Winemaker Chuck Wagner oversees the production of 65,000 cases annually at the Rutherford, California winery.
- 2009 O'Shaughnessy, Cabernet Sauvignon, Howell Mountain, 94+ pts., Parker; $90.00: All minerals, graphite and pure Howell Mountain. Layers of dark red fruit come to life in this articulate, pedigreed Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2009 needs another few years in the bottle, but it is already quite striking, especially with some time in the glass. Saline notes frame the long finish.
- 2009 Blackbird Vineyards, Proprietary Red, Contrarian, 93 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $125.00: The 2009 Contrarian opens with expressive scents of toffee, dark chocolate, blackberry, and smooth vanilla. On the palate, flavors of black fruit complement layers of intricately structured fine-grained tannins that hold great density and weight. The finish is polished, supple, and harmoniously precise. This wine is delicious now and will also age well over time. Blackbird's 2009 vintage wines showcase grapes farmed with an ideal hang time, offering wines with bright flavors, balanced sugars, and acidity."- Winemaker, Aaron Pott
- 2009 Paul Hobbs, Cabernet Sauvignon, Beckstoffer, Las Piedras, 96 pts., Parker; $204.00: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard flows with the essence of mint, licorice, black cherries and flowers. It is a deep, muscular wine endowed with terrific richness and depth. Crushed rocks, graphite, minerals, smoke and tar are some of the many nuances that emerge on the dark, voluptuous finish. This seamless, pure wine is simply dazzling. The 2009 is the first Las Piedras from Paul Hobbs. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2029." - Antonio Galloni (Dec 2011).
- 2009 Paul Hobbs, Cabernet Sauvignon, Beckstoffer, To Kalon, 97 pts., Parker; $319.00: Paul selects specific rows of grapes within this historic vineyard, which contribute to the wine's formidable complexity and refinement. Its black garnet hues are resplendent with aromas of blueberry, currant, cocoa and wet slate. The palate is silky and rich, and powerfully charged with intense, finely sculpted layers of graphite and dark chocolate. The velvety mid-palate crescendos toward an endless finish graced with fine yet stately tannins.
- 2009 Araujo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Eisele, 94-97 pts., Parker; $330.00: "From a cooler year, the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Eisele Vineyard was completely harvested before the rains arrived. It should be a normal blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. More chocolate aromas appear in the wine's perfume as well as notes of flowers, cassis and crushed rocks. Medium to full-bodied with striking purity and a seamless, well-formed style, this beauty is, surprisingly, potentially better than the 2007. Moreover, the 2009 should drink well early on and last for 20-25+ years.

For Your Appreciation: Thank You!
Pay one penny for one bottle of Clos LaChance Sauvignon Blanc upon spending over $100.00 on any wine purchase. Normal retail price is $15.00 per bottle. Limit one purchase per family per day.

A blend of 82 percent sauvignon blanc, 15 percent semillon and 3 percent muscat blanc, the wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks except for 16 percent that goes into neutral French oak barrels. This is a stupendously lively and refreshing sauvignon blanc that bursts with a flurry of grapefruit and lime peel, dried thyme and fennel and hints of grass and hay. Flavors lean toward juicy pear infused with tangerine and hay and a touch of leafy fig, all ensconced in an attractive texture that neatly balances crisp acidity with moderate lushness. A trace of grapefruit bitterness makes for a bracing finish. Here's a clean, bright, tasty sauvignon blanc that will make pleasant quaffing this Spring and Summer, either as aperitif or with such dishes as grilled shrimp or ceviche.
Normal retail price is $15.00 per bottle, but you only pay one penny upon spending $100.00 on any wine purchase.
Limit one wine purchase per family per day.
Thank you for your business!

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr. is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:
"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."
Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar. This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled. Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised. As you are aware, all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm. This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar. |
