Message from Co-Presidents:
Dear Parents,
Thank you for coming out and making the Holiday Shop and Boutique a huge success! We appreciate your support of this fundraiser and hope that you and your child(ren) found some beautiful items for your home as well as gifts for friends and family. Don't forget about the JC Toy Drive next Wednesday, December 12th and Thursday, December 13th where most toys will sell for only $5! Store hours will be at the beginning and end of the school day. We will be accepting donations through Tuesday, December 11th.
A big THANK YOU goes to Claire Kiger and Kylie Pattman for their hard work and dedication to making the Holiday Shop & Boutique so wonderful and successful. You could tell how much the students and teachers love having the shop at the school by the smiles on their faces. Also, we would like to thank Shellie Hone, SES committee chair, for providing snacks and refreshments on Tuesday and Thursday for the teachers to help give them a "boost" during the parent/teacher conferences. Lastly, we would like to thank Marilyn White for graciously donating her time and proceeds to the PTA for the family photo shoot. We hope that everyone enjoys their beautiful family photos!
We would like to note that the General PTA meeting scheduled for Wednesday, December 12th has been postponed. Our next general PTA meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 16th.

Congratulations to our 2nd grade students
for a job well done on their community service project for UNICEF, which resulted in the collection of $349.68. This was a Halloween collection and a job well done considering the community had just been through a devastating hurricane and the holiday was moved to days later!
Math Curriculum Review Committee

Please consider supporting efforts to support the victims of Hurricane Sandy in Breezy Point. We are selling Green and White bracelets and will send all money to this organization http://breezypointdisasterrelief.org. ALL profits will go to residents in Breezy Point, Queens.
Bracelets cost a minimum of $2 so that students might be able to give their own money. All donations above will be greatly appreciated by those in need.
Bracelets can be bought in the office. All money collected will be sent prior to leaving for Holiday Break on 12/21st. Thank you in advance for your support!

CAR PICK-UP
Please ALWAYS have your signs visible in the front window of your car when picking up your child. In addition, please make sure babysitters, grandparents, and anyone else sent to pick up your child is aware of our procedures. This keeps dismissal safe for all. Thank you.

Box Tops
We will be starting a new Box Tops for Education campaign next week and will be holding some fun grade level competitions for the class who brings in the most Box Tops. Please see your child's Friday folder for further information. Contact

Election on December 7th in each classroom. Winners will be announced at te end of the day.
Winter Afters 2012-2013
We hope you found the new Afters registration process to be clear and easy! The session for the Fall Afters classes has ended this week. The next session begins Monday, December 17th. Registration is still open. Everyone who has paid, signed and submitted registration forms is in their class(es) of choice. Lego Engineering is sold out. 4th & 5th Grade Orchestra
Dear Parents:
It is nearly time for our JC Winter Concert! Please make sure to send your child to school with their instrument and music on Monday, December 10th. We will have our in-school performance at 1:15pm. The evening concert is at 7pm - please drop off band students to the art room by 6:30pm to warm-up & tune. Students should dress up for the evening concert: white tops & black bottoms.
Following the concert, we will break from Wednesday before-school rehearsals for several weeks. These will resume on Wednesday, January 30th (7:30am). Lessons will continue as scheduled in the meantime. Thank you.

JC's Toy ShopPlease donate unopened toys to the JC Toy Shop. You can place your donation in the designated box located in the front foyer . Most donated toys will be sold for $5 on December 12 and 13th.
Special Education Support Committee meeting
with new Superintendent Dr William McKersie Wednesday, December 12th at 10.30 am in the Cone Room at Town Hall.
Please welcome our new Superintendent and participate in a question and answer session.
This is a great opportunity to hear about Dr McKersie's views on special education and introduce him to our SES community.
Neighbor to Neighbor
Please consider donating to Neighbor to Neighbor. The response has been slim to date. Continuing through December 14, each grade level will be collecting food and clothing for Neighbor to Neighbor
Due to the current state of the economy, the number of families who rely upon Neighbor to Neighbor has increased by 50% in recent months. All items will be distributed by Neighbor to Neighbor to families in Greenwich who need assistance. Please help by donating at least one food and one clothing item. There will be a collection box in your child's classroom.
In conjunction with this project, the JC Service club will also be collecting new or gently used winter coats, and winter clothes for children. All of these items should beplaced in the collection boxes by the gym.
Food Items include: PB & J, Canned fruit and vegetables, dried beans/pasta, boxed milk, canned soup, cereal boxes, canned meat
Clothing: Children's and adult mittens.

Muchas Gracias por haber hecho de nuestro pequeño bazar de las fiestas un éxito. Apresiamos muchisimo su apoyo para recaudar fondos para nuestro colegio, esperamos hayan encontrado muchas cosas lindas para regales, sus hogares y para sus nines. Por favor no olviden sue en el colegio estamos aceptando donaciones de juguetes los cuales seran vendidos el proximo Miércoles 12 de Diciembre y Jueves 13 de Diciembre por sólo $5. Los horarios de nuestra tienda serán al inicio del dia escolar y a al finalizar el día escolar. Aceptaremos donaciones hasta el día Martes 11 de Diciembre.

Western Middle School PTA will hold its first Tag Sale and Holiday Boutique
Saturday, December 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria. The Boutique will feature fabulous vendors and the Tag Sale will include designer clothing and shoes donated by a NYC high-end fashion icon to be sold at a deep discount at the sale!
Tag Sale Early Bird entry begins at 8:00 a.m. for a fee of $10. Please contact PTA President Kati Bennett at katibennett@optonline.net with any questions.
