D1SA Training

The new Elite Training program will begin in March, focusing on levels of skill-development, both for the elementary age developing athlete to the emerging middle school player, as well as the high school athlete and even more opportunities for the overachievers. This program will be open to all athletes; you need not be on a Spartan spring team to participate in the program.

Loudoun United emerged to unite all Loudoun Basketball athletes to expose them to opportunities outside their individual clubs, teams and organizations. Powered by D1SA, LU operates with its own advisory board and collective of professionals and supporting networks to enhance visibility of its athletes. The vision is to provide events that help student athletes prepare for their athletic future. LU will be announcing tryouts for the All Loudoun United high schools teams for the forthcoming spring season. LU's website features player profiles to expose some of Loudoun's finest basketball talent.

  February 2014
OFF THE COURT
In anticipation of a full spring season of basketball opportunities through D1SA programming, I thank our loyal Spartan Nation families for your continued support. If you are new to our Spartan Nation, I welcome you and assure you of my commitment to the growth of your student athlete.

D1SA's goal is to work together with all resources and outlets to expand and expose our Student Athletes to basketball enrichment that provide OPPORTUNITY. For those that want to play basketball year-round, I welcome all to experience the Spartan Nation.

Basketball is a game, won and lost on the court, but my hope is to instill in these athletes values that can be taken off the court and incorporated into their daily lives that lead them to excel mentally, physically and spiritually.
Together, let's build the Spartan Nation.

Eric Williams, D1SA Athletic Director

D1SA THANKS DONORS

Kicking off D1SA's 2014 programming year, local businessman Kevin Miller, CEO of Sciolex Corporation made a most generous donation to D1SA. Over 40 young D1SA athletes gathered after practice on Thursday, December 14 to present Miller with an "Above the Rim" plaque to honor him for his tremendous support. Miller told the student athletes that the first step in becoming leaders is to better yourself through athleticism and by becoming community leaders.
He went on to say
"Look around and see what you can do for your community. Today the world has lost that very honorable thing. Go forward and have faith in your life, for yourself, love for your family, your fellowman, and your community."

On Thursday, January 16, CEO of Ashburn Consulting Sung Lewe and President Jim Burris were presented with a "Slam Dunk" plaque to thank them for the continued support with donations  in 2013 and 2014.

Burris said, "We believe in helping out our community. Giving the money is the easy part, but what D1SA does for the kids and the community is admirable and is the tough part of the job."

D1SA has ambitious goals and looks to community business leaders for continued support

SPARTAN WAY OF LIFE
The Spartan perspective highlights the strength, will, and courage of a Spartan. The entire philosophy is based on the motto of no retreat, no surrender, no fear!

In the physical world our greatest competition is found within ourselves and never against our opponents. Toeing the line, pushing us beyond the threshold of comfort with our ability to produce excellence. Preparation is a key component to all of what a Spartan does, so in the face of adversity, we are all craftsman at finding solutions to any given conflict that arises.

No excuses for a Spartan before, during, or after battle. Being courageous for us is not only a characteristic, but it is instilled in the framework of our teams and individual players.

We are linked in battle and life step by step with discipline and an unquenchable thirst to execute as one impenetrable force through teamwork.

Together we stand as Spartans. Spartans, "Prepare for glory!"

SPIRIT OF A SPARTAN

D1SA seeks to highlight Spartan athletes that exemplify the Spartan Way of Life.

D1SA salutes Amber Kaiser as Spartan of the Month

On and off the basketball court, Amber Kaiser, 8th grader at Harper Park Middle School exemplifies the Spirit of a Spartan. "An overachiever and a leader among her peers, and certainly a leader of tomorrow," says Coach Williams when asked to describe Amber. " At practice or at game time, she puts her heart into it and comes to work!" Williams stated. As a

member of the Spartan Nike Girl's team, "Amber sets the example for others to follow with her optimism and confidence, attributes that can't be taught by a coach.   Always on time, always ready to work and gives it all she has when she's on the court," Coach says.

Amber is a founding member of the original class of the Overachieving Nation of Spartans. Elaborating, Coach Williams says that a small group of athletes challenged him to find outlets to extend their training opportunities to become stronger and increase their talents through extensive training. Amber has just concluded a series of specialized workouts that will now become a part of D1SA's Elite Training Program. Amber, on the honor roll each quarter while taking Geometry and Latin, is a year-round athlete and also enjoys both competitive swimming and soccer. Using her leadership skills, she serves as Vice President of Programs for the Loudoun Basketball Society. Amber's mom Carol, says that under Coach's guidance, Amber has grown so much as a player. She says, "Amber's passion and love for the game is a direct result of her involvement with Coach Eric and D1SA."

D1SA salutes Amber and is proud of the SPARTAN she is and the person she aspires to be. Watch for great things from her on the Loudoun courts and beyond!
