Folsom welcomes 7 firefighters  
The Fire Department's newest employees are all state qualified firefighters and licensed paramedics. Fire Chief Ron Phillips welcomed them today as they began an intensive six-week Department Training Academy. "Our recruitment was highly successful and I am pleased to welcome this well educated and experienced group," says Chief Phillips. "I believe they will serve our community well in the coming years."  Who are they? 
 
  
Cindy Cash charms crowd at Johnny Cash Overcrossing kick-off
Cindy Cash, the daughter of country singing legend Johnny Cash, was all smiles as she and local dignitaries broke ground for the Johnny Cash Trail and Bike/Pedestrian Overcrossing last week. The overcrossing, which will span busy Folsom Lake Crossing Road near East Natoma Street, is expected to open in the fall.

Monday, May 12 will be a big day for Folsom as the world's premier cyclists, world-wide news media and thousands of cycling fans gather in our Historic District and along the race route.  Some residents are already scoping out the best viewing sites or looking at volunteer opportunities. Others may opt to stay home to watch the TV coverage, avoiding the crowds and road closures. Business owners are planning special promotions and viewing parties, or closing for the day. 
Introducing Folsom's newest police officer 
Officer Zach Wells became the newest member of the Folsom Police Department when he was sworn-in by Police Chief Cynthia Renaud during a special ceremony yesterday.
