Manufacturing, once the anchor of the American economy, is looking at a major comeback after years of stagnation.

Recognizing the importance of manufacturing both to the nation's security and to the security of the middle-class, local, regional and national offices are seeking ways to encourage manufacturing innovation and growth.

One example of a major initiative in support of manufacturing is the
newly relaunched Eastern Shore Manufacturing Council (ESMC)

Our guests will discuss the issues impacting the manufacturing sector and how the ESMC is organizing to address them.

We will discuss:
  • Structural challenges to innovation
  • Building the workforce to fill manufacturing jobs
  • How ESMC is helping to build the "innovation spark"

Bill Barnes

Bill is the newly appointed director of the Eastern Shore Manufacturing Council.  Previously  he served with the University of Maryland Manufacturing Assistance Program, Unisys and Arthur Andersen.

Mike Thielke

Mike heads the Eastern Shore Entrepreneurship Center in Easton, Md.  He has been a driving force in directing attention to the importance of the ESMC ,and offers support to entrepreneurial businesses through financial assistance, networking and training programs.
