Dear Valley Forge Families -
December always brings special traditions to Valley Forge. Tonight's commemoration of Washington's "march in" to Valley Forge in 1777 is one of our family's favorites. At school, the sweetness of the Kindergarteners crafting their gingerbread houses, the festive concerts and the classroom parties make these short December days fly by. Thank you for participating in all these activities and contributing to the memories that are being made for our children. Our school and your PTO benefits from your time and financial contributions and I, personally, thank you for your generosity.
Happy holidays and best wishes for 2015, Heather

From your School Nurse - When To Keep Your Child At Home
There are times when you may not be sure that it is necessary to keep your child home from school. Here are a few symptoms that may mean that your child is sick.
- Fever
- Chills
- Running or inflamed eyes or nose
- Rash
- Abdominal pain
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Sore throat
- Enlarged glands
- Excessive coughing
A child should remain at home at least 24 hours with no fever or vomiting following an illness. Notify the school of the reason for your child's absence (i.e., fever 102, diagnosed by MD with the flu, positive strep throat test, etc.). When your child returns to school, he/she must bring a written excuse stating the date(s), and the reason for the absence. This excuse must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.
By following these guidelines, you will protect not only the health of your child, but also the health of his/her classmates and the school staff.

We had a great faculty/staff luncheon on Friday, and we would like to again extend our gratitude to the teachers and staff for everything they do. Their sincere appreciation and excitement for the luncheon made serving them our pleasure! We also want to thank all of those who played a part in making this such a special event for the teachers.
Our movie night was a huge hit! The children were excited to watch The Lego Movie with their friends, get tattoos, and eat popcorn. This was possible because of our parent chaperones. We thank Heather Manifold, Beth Ameche, Kerry Ashcroft, Heather Bittenbender, Tarin Cataldo, Raquel Hunter, Danielle Irvine, Kim Kerns, Angel McAveney, Stacey Pellegrini, Doris Roberts, Elayne Schmidt, and Brooke Stein.
