We Have Found a PTO President!
The PTO is pleased to announce that Heather Bittenbender will be the PTO President next year! Heather has been a very active volunteer at VFES and co-chairs the annual VFES Book Fair. We are thrilled that Heather will be leading the PTO and we have a very strong, wonderful board in place for next year.

Help Us Give Thanks to Our VFE Staff! Chairpersons Amanda Ivory and  Pam Bennett have planned a wonderful Year-End Staff Luncheon on Wednesday, June 19th to honor the hard work our teachers and staff provide for our children throughout the school year but they'll need your help to make it a success! If you can whip up your favorite side dish or dessert specialty, or lend your helping hands for clean-up (1:30pm-2:30pm), please contact Monica Moore at vpvolunteer@vfespto.org .

VFES Fundraising Results for the Year Through the amazing generosity of our families at VFES the PTO was able to raise the following funds this year (all numbers have been rounded):
Box Tops -- $1,000
Target Red Card -- $570
Direct Donations -- $9,600
Book Fair -- $2,600
Adult Social/SIlent Auction -- $9,500
Spring Fair -- $19,000
Total -- $42,270
These funds will be used to fund the PTO operating budget ($10K), all of the cultural arts assemblies for next year ($10K), 30 iPads and accessories for the classrooms ($17K), 6 new Dell laptops ($5K) and a project for our teachers.
The PTO is thrilled that we can provide so much for the students at VFES. Thank you all so much!

Notes from the VFE Publishing Center
Do you have a connection to a local wallpaper supply store or interior design center? If so, can you help the VFE Publishing Center? We use donated and discontinued wallpaper sample books to create the adorable back covers for our books. We are currently all out of sample books and need to stock up ASAP so we can work over the summer prepping back covers for next year. If you can help us connect, please contact Carol Connolly at carolconnolly0217@yahoo.com. Thanks! I want to sincerely thank all of the parents who have helped in the Publishing Center this year. Although the final count is not yet in, we will have created over 600 books this year which is no small feat. It takes numerous volunteers, too many to mention here, but I want to thank all you! A special thanks to our amazing chairs: Valerie Rosenblum, Sonia Murrell, Cathy Barrios, Lynn Montgomery, Amanda Ivory, and Beth Burns. Thanks also to Tarin Cataldo who has agreed to take over the Publishing Center next year. Calling All Chess Players!
Fall 2013
We are looking for a parent instructor  to teach chess as an after school club in the fall. The PTO has four bins full of chess sets in the PTO closet but no one to teach the club. A huge thank you to our fabulous Falcon editors, Wendi Ballas and Rujuta Mandelia for putting each issue together and for getting it out on time!
Ester Lee did an amazing job this year keeping the new VFES PTO website current and colorful.
We had 20 parent volunteers help with the 3rd grade Bee Man assembly (thank you all so much!), and Michelle Rossi did a great job coordinating the event. We also appreciate the efforts of the following cultural arts event chairs this year: Lynne Spangler, Donna Costin, Susan Moyer, Stacey Pellegrini and Karen Jens.
We had another great line up of spring clubs and have to thank Michelle Wang, Angelica Riley, Stacey Mignone, Laura Wurzer, Janet Plastino
and Jackie Reinhart for their hard work organizing the clubs.
