VFES Spring Fair Book Sale

May 3, 2013

Once again we will have a used

book sale at the Spring Fair.

Please note, this year we will

be collecting both children's

and adultbooks, CDs, DVD's

and videos.  If you have any of these items to donate, please drop them off in the book box which will be located in the school lobby after spring break.  We are especially in need of chapter books suitable for our third & fourth grade students.  Many of the books that your children have outgrown will make a younger child very happy!!

  • No textbooks, magazines, periodicals, or encyclopedias.
  • Any questions please call Beth Burns (610) 407-4591 or Adrienne Miller (610) 971-1555
We will be collecting materials until the day of the fair, May 3rd.
Help Wanted
The Spring Fair is right around the corner! Volunteers Needed!

Please make this night special for your
child by helping out and volunteering
for a shift.
NEW PROCESS: We will be using an online
sign up system called ivolunteer.  A link
for this will be emailed to all families
during the week of April 1
st.  We will also post the link on the PTO website.   The online system will allow for flexibility in picking a shift and station you would like to work plus automatic reminders will be sent out a few days before the fair.  For sign ups,  just provide your email address - no need to join or create an account!  Thank you for your help in making this a fun night for all the kids.  Any questions, please contact Lisa Davis at vfespringfair@gmail.com.

We're Almost There - One (or two?) More Jobs Left!

We were contacted by many of you regarding our open board positions and our Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, Communications Coordinator and VP of Socials jobs are all filled which is AMAZING!

We have a key position left which

is the NEW JOB of Vice President.

The VP shadows the President for 1 year

and then assumes the role of President

the following year.  The VP's duties are

relatively light and having a VP on the board, along with a realignment of some of the Presidential duties, will make the President's job much easier moving forward.

We have a good, strong board together for next year.  If you are interested in this position (or the President's position  ) please contact Raquel Hunter at ptopres@vfespto.org.

Art Goes To School Returns To VFES!
April 1-5 2013

Art Goes to School is an art
appreciation program specifically
designed for young children. The AGTS volunteers help children discover for themselves an enjoyment in art, not by lecturing, but by becoming "Art Detectives" who will uncover a whole new way of looking at and appreciating art. We will be playing games that involve poems, a scavenger hunt and fun facts trivia. For the schedule, please click here.

If you would like to sit in on a session, please click on the link for the schedule or contact Sarah Culbert at 610 783 1255 or sarahculbert@hotmail.com

T&E Care Is Looking For Kids Clothes

T&E Care is looking for donations of new or gently used clothing for infants through teens (16 years) for its upcoming Kids Clothing Grab Bag.  Items can be dropped off during the week of April 1 at any of the local schools (including ours), Play It Again Sports (Berwyn) or Doctor's Best (Berwyn).   Please only drop items off when the schools/businesses are open. Clothing for all seasons, plus good quality shoes, boots, coats, belts or other accessories will be accepted.   For a list of items we are not able to accept, and for other information, please go to www.tecare.org.   Be sure to also mark your calendars for the Grab Bag itself, April 12 (3-7) or April 13 (9-1) at St. Matthew's United Methodist Church on Walker Rd.  This fundraiser for T&E Care is a great chance for everyone to restock your kids' closets with great quality clothes.  A suggested donation of $5/bag is appreciated. Questions, please contact us at  clothes@tecare.org.

Gratitude Corner

Pizza Bingo was a really fun night thanks to Adrienne Miller and her wonderful team of parent volunteers.  We also appreciate the efforts of the 4th Grade Party Committee who ran the yummy bake sale and provided the fun raffle items.

The music recording volunteers are getting the kids to sing their hearts out! A big thank you goes to Julie Kanto for recruiting and organizing everyone.  Our many parent "vocal coaches" are also appreciated!

Hopefully you have seen the Dental Clinic's Yankee Candle fundraiser packet.  The Dental Clinic is a great community service and Whitney Collins and Karen Reaume are the VFES representatives.  Thank you!

Jennifer Arnott is our Outreach Coordinator making sure that FLITE and T&E Care get the help that they need.  Great job!
