"And Spring arose on the garden fair, Like the Spirit of Love felt everywhere;
And each flower and herb on Earth's dark breast
rose from the dreams of its wintry rest."

Greetings!
What keeps me engaged in crochet is the diversity of the craft itself. Today, I could be working on an afghan, next week I can be working on a scarf. Sometimes, I need to challenge myself to keep my interests alive. To send our minds into the ultimate creative mode, today we are launching the Crochet Mystery Adventure. It's a concept that I have been thinking about but unsure really how to go about it. I mean... will crocheters actually crochet portions of a pattern without knowing exactly what it is? I know many of the participants are excited about the mystery and willing to ride along with it. I do know there are people on the fence who are trapped in their thinking to commit to the project as they want their final project to be perfect. Creativity is not about being perfect... it's an expression of ones' self. The colours crocheters will choose will be based on what colours they like. Essentially, their finished project will be a part of their personality incorporated into it. The goal is to learn something new, think outside of the box and to work together as a community in a mystery crochet along. I am fairly confident that nearly everyone will absolutely adore their finished project. So today, let's break open the thinking box and try something new. |
Clue #1 Rex is my nickname and I am a ruminant.

Starting Today! April 1st at 2pm Eastern Standard Time, The Crochet Crowd Mystery Challenge kicks off. Are we Excited!!!!!!!!! Its like a game of Clue each week!
This is a brand new concept for The Crochet Crowd. Frankly, I am really excited about it as the creativity of our followers is unlimited. The mystery provides barriers that ensure the creative side of your brain kicks into swing.
Four weeks long and each Tuesday a new part of the Pattern comes together with videos. Take a guess what it might be each week as we piece it together.

Spring has Sprung Crochet Challenge
|
Our new challenge is ready nearly at the half way point and we have 500 entries so far! 15 days left :)
We wanted something simple and quick for this month. Even though Spring is coming, in our area we are still in cold weather with no signs of it breaking up into spring!
This challenge will allow you to complete a project in 1 of 3 different ways:
- Button Cowl
- Full Length Scarf
- Baby Size or Bigger Afghan
Each project will be worth a different number of entries for draw at the end. You can decide which type of project suits your needs.
We encourage everyone to try one of these three options noted on our
Website Challenge Page. Part of the challenge is figuring out stitch counts, yarn ball quantities and more. These types of challenges help you in the future with other projects.
We love to see what kind of colour combos come together and maybe even some embellishments. Enjoy everyone and remember one lucky winner will get a full bag of Red Heart Goodies! Have fun and it's all about trying something new and doing something together as a community.

Feeling Nostalgic- Vintage Pattern Revival With Lion Brand
|
Today, we are so focused on moving forward and getting new patterns and inspiration. Meanwhile, crocheters of yesteryear have spent a great deal of time figuring out patterns that are fabulous.
Time after time, we see vintage patterns being revived that have always been available. We either forget about the pattern or cannot see the concept from a modern day perspective. Here at home, Diva Dan have been been looking backward to trends from before our time. There were so many uses of great colour, ideas as well as things people may have chucked in a garage sale at some point.
So let's put new designs away for today and look backward to the designs that may have accidentally slid into the pattern vault. My fingers are getting twitchy over the Nouveau Vintage Afghan. It's unexpected and you really can play with this. It also through your left and right side of your brain for a spin on Mr Toad's Wild Ride.
I am seeing a trend in The Crochet Crowd of crocheters wanting to play with lacy work with afghans. Truth is, the afghans are speedy quick once you can wrap that pattern around your noggin. Think about what other colours the Lacy Eyelets Throw could be in.
Finally, how about something geared for high traffic areas in your home. Try the Luncheon Mats. These are quick and fun little mats. Watch out though, the pattern will go quick that you may get 'hooked' to make another.

Editor's Note: To be featured in our Facebook Page is purely like winning the lottery! It is always random and with such a wonderful page of MANY followers we do our best to include as many as we can when time allows us. Also Patterns might not be available. Be kind to those and please support each other by going to the 'recently post by others' page and give everyone a thumbs up or a positive comment. After all, we created this page to give you the chance to inspire others and to support each other with questions. Just like being in School show and tell was always the best time of the day. We love every one of these projects and hope you share that love with others as well.
