Mikey's Message to You!
Greetings!

Most people don't know, my parents owned a fairground in Sauble Beach, Ontario Canada. It was called Kiddie Land. We had rides and an 18 hole mini golf. Unlimited golf and rides, what more could a kid ask for! Today, the fairground has been removed but now sits a large mini putt course in its spot. It's on the Main Street. It was here that my crafting journey started. In a town of less than 500 and two blurry TV stations during our winters. My mom kept us busy with crafts, specifically yarn arts, and other things.

During the winters, my mother used to make Barbie Size doll clothing. Being there was three kids, we went through cereal like crazy. Mom would cut out the boxes, make the doll clothes and then saran wrap them to the cardboard to give them as gifts. During the...Continue Reading

Spring has Sprung Crochet Challenge
Our New Challenge is Ready!

We wanted something simple and quick for this month. Even though Spring is coming, in our area we still have a lot of cold weather in store for us.

This challenge will allow you to complete a project in 1 of 3 different ways.
  1. Button Cowl
  2. Full Length Scarf
  3. Baby Size or Bigger Afghan

Each project will be worth a different number of entries for draw at the end. You can decide which type of project suits your needs.

We encourage everyone to try one of these three options noted on our
Website Challenge Page. Part of the challenge is figuring out stitch counts, yarn ball quantities and more. These types of challenges help you in the future with other projects.

We love to see what kind of  colour combos come together and maybe even some embellishments.  Enjoy everyone and remember one lucky winner will get a full bag of Red Heart Goodies! Have fun and it's all about trying something new and doing something together as a community.
Lion Brand Supports and Gives, The Story of Three Friends
03-09-2014 18:36:34 PM

Lion Brand Yarns has just announced their new charity awareness campaign for Krochet Kids International. Approximately 5 years ago, Kohl Crecelius and his two buddies from high school wanted to do something amazing with their lives. They wanted to try to pull people out of poverty in Uganda. Get the full story. In discussing this ...Continue reading»

'Lion Brand is also pleased to announce that they will be supporting their mission by donating 10% of the revenues from all LB Collection yarns sold on the Lion Brand Website to Krochet Kids. ' As crocheters we tend to like to make our own hats but what better way to still support them by building your yarn stash of  some delicious yarn from the LB Collection. This announcement is till the end of April, 2014

Here are some exquisite patterns using the LB Collection.

Using LB Collection 100% Silk yarn, this luxurious Yin Yang shawl is an easy project to do. With spring around the corner and the colours are Rich and Lustrous, using this yarn creates an eye pleasing and beautiful draped wrap.

Stainless steel wool? This thread is so unique that it is strong, lacy and keeps it's shape. Great for wraps, sweaters and jewelry. This Lace Crochet Bolero is just stunning, perfect for that late summer walk in the park.
With lots of colours, soft and lightweight, Cashmere is ideal for hats, scarves and baby cloths. This Brommstick Lace Crochet Shell Tank Top has is challenges but learn from Mikey's Video to do the Broomstick lace and it will become a breeze.

The Cute Little Baby Peapod Sundress
Crochet Peapod Baby Sundress Tutorial
Crochet Peapod Baby Sundress Tutorial
This super adorable baby dress comes in 4 sizes. Pattern includes 6, 12, 18 and 24 months' instructions. I have found the instructions super easy to follow without any difficulties. The pattern is for beginners and beyond. Don't let the pattern instructions intimidate you. There are many paragraphs on this instruction that only apply to certain sizes.

In the video tutorial, I demonstrate the 6 month version but give help on all other sizes to be able to follow the instructions. Once you see how we are growing the baby sweater, venturing on your own for the 12, 18 and 24 month sizes are a breeze.

Passion to the Prison

You cannot imagine how much I loved this article that was called Knitting Behind Bars. Our crocheters know how much therapy crochet provides. Lynn Zwerling, and her team of volunteers, are people I would want to meet in my lifetime after reading this article. To take a passion to give it to another is one ...Continue Reading»

03-10-2014 15:25:58 PM

I cannot even believe of what I am about to admit... During last week's visit at Spinrite Factory Outlet, I turned into a raging yarn fanatic! I was stationed beside the cash. When the store opened, there was a few boxes of Bernat Mosaic Yarn that is normally priced between $6 - 7 per ball. ...Continue reading»

Entrelac Crochet, what a fabulous stitch!
How to Entrelac Crochet
How to Entrelac Crochet
Entrelac Crochet is the art of creating gorgeous afghans that have boxed shapes that grow with each other. The concept is really easy once you understand the concept and stitch counts.

While on The Crochet Cruise Cruises, two fabulous ladies, Barbara and Diane, showed me the concept. It took me an hour to grasp but I really needed someone in person to show me and answer questions as I went along. It was probably one of the best hours of 2014 to date.
